I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy 2 years ago. Mammogram last year was all fine. Just had a text to attend an ultrasound scan. Just wondering if anyone has had this and that there was no recurrence but ‘normal’ changes in breast tissue following treatment and natural aging. Thanks xxxx
My situation is similar but slightly different I had a lumpectomy last year and got a call back for an ultrasound and biopsy on my healthy breast. I have since had a core biopsy and vacuum assisted biopsy and awaiting results.
My understanding is that recalls are not uncommon and the majority of them do not lead to a diagnosis of malignancies they are just to check any changes including natural changes due to ageing
It is natural to worry: the waiting and not knowing is the hardest part. I would suggest contacting your BCN or the breast imaging unit and they will discuss the reasons for the recall.
Sending you a virtue hug
Thank you so much! I have chatted to the nurse and have started to calm down about it now. I just wish they went straight to ultrasound for the first 5 years after treatment. Less faffing about, much less painful than a mammogram and more accurate ![]()
