A week ago I had therapeutic mammoplasty and SNB for a 10mm grade 3 invasive ductal. Ultrasound showed no lymph node involvement. Now in shock as got results yesterday and invasive buried in 2.5cm of DCIS and 2 sentinel nodes positive. DCIS did not show on mammogram or ultrasound either.
Consultant keen to do second therapeutic mammoplasty as 3 out of 4 margins well clear but one wasn’t and axillary clearance. But as there is DCIS which didn’t show up on scans my concern is that there may be more elsewhere in breast and in view of lymph nodes I am minded to go for removal of the breast for peace of mind. Anyone had to make a similar decision? Thanks.
