I was diagnosed on 6th October 2009 and went on to have two lots of surgery - WLE and SNB followed by excision of huge haematoma with a total of 9 days in hospital and daily platelet infusions plus a blood transfusion. Thankfully I didn’t need chemo, but just radiotherapy and two and a half years on hormone treatment.
Now I have had my 3 year mammogram and very thorough ultrasound and they found nothing suspicious so I am free for another year. I just wanted to speak to people who have just been diagnosed and tell them that you can make it through this and you won’t always feel as bad as you do now. The other really positive outcome is that I have made some good friends on these forums and I wouldn’t be without them now. Thank you Breast Cancer Care - you do a fantastic job!
Thank you for your kind words elsk, it’;s much appreciated by everyone here at BCC. Glad to hear you’re getting good support via these forums/website.
Take care,

Hi just adding to what Elsk said. I was Dx 26th Nov 2009. Had chemo, WLE x 2,ANC, rads and now aromatase inhibitor for last 2 1/2 years. I had my 3rd annual mammo and Onc appt yesterday, all is well and NED ( no evidence of disease) continues to be my friend. Sent away- come back in a year.
So for anyone recently Dx ( and I do remember those dark days well ) I hope you can see your way to the end of the tunnel even if at the moment it seems a dark awful tunnel with little light at the end.
I gained so much help and support from this forum during that time and cyber friends from then have become very real friends many of whom I have met.
So I add my thanks to BCC too J
thank you ladies…I have just come past my first anniversary of dx…annual mammo etc and was ok before it…as the anniversary came round I found my mood dropped and have been having a major wobble…to read things like this give me hope that I too can come through all the crap that BC has left me with…I am NED at the moment and can only pray that this continues…thank you again…
