Hello All, I need some help and advise pls!
My story started in November 2013 when I noticed my right nipple was a strange colour, dark purple. Completely different to the left nipple. As I touched/examined the discoloured nipple some cream like fluid came out of my nipple which really concerned me. So I decided to check my right breast for any lumps and immediatly found a pea sized lump on top of my breast. The following day I contacted my GP who phoned me back and suggested we wait awhile to see if the lump disappeared after my monthly. It did’nt so after Christmas the lump was bigger and sore and the nipple kept changing colour I phoned the surgery again and the receptionist made me an appointment straightaway. I was seen by an old male doctor who was very concerned about the lump and colour changes in the nipple and said he was putting an urgent referral into the breast clinic and I would be seen within 2 weeks. In the following days I recieved a copy of the letter my GP sent to the hospital stating he suspected breast cancer.This was such a scary time and my anixety levels were sky high.
My boyfriend attended the appointment with me we waited 2.5 hours to see the doctor which didnt help either of our stress levels! The doctor felt the lump and sent me around for a ultrasound scan.
The lady took all of 2 seconds to scan me and tell me it was a cyst. I was shocked at how quick the scan was but relieved it was a cyst. I was given no information about breast cysts just told I was free to go and the results would be sent too my GP.
The lump is still there and I have had blood from my nipple on one occasion and some more discharge a few times. I spoke to my GP about the blood and discharge, explained the cyst was bigger but was told to see how it goes.
Since then the lump has continued to grow and I have another lump appeared in the same breast on the right near my armpit with is uncomfortable to touch and in general can be sore. This breast feels heavier than the other and sometimes aches. I saw my GP last week who has referred me back to the hospital and my appointment is on 1st July 2014. The last 2 days the anxiety has really kicked in!
I have no close family that have had breast cancer. The nearest relieve was my great Nan.
I’m only 31 but have heard of cases of ladies in there early twenties with breast cancer.
My mum passed away from Lung cancer in August 2012, the cancer started in her liver and spread to her lungs within 18 months of diagnosis.
I have endometrisis and started taking Lostrin 20 (type of pill) continuously 2.5 months ago to control the pain and bleeding.
I’ve read stories on the internet of ladies having cyst and behind is another lump which turned out to be cancerous.
I’m hoping the hospital will do more tests this time.
I have no children but have had one cycle of IVF in my twenties which resulted in a misscarriage.
I would be grateful of any advise/support and opinions please. Thanks Martina
