I was looking forward to finishing my 3rd fec as I would be half way throughy chemo. Yesterday the district nurse to give me my Nulasta injection, took my temp and when learning that I’d been nauseus and vomiting 3 times and once when she was at my house she called the chemo line.
The doctor who she spoke to was very good as they always are and was more worried about my sickness than temp so he gave us names of an injection or tablets which the out of hours gp should precribe.
The nurse went and we called the gp and he was wonderful and very informative about breast cancer and also herceptin. He gave me an anti sickness injection and I did feel better but i feel slow, lethargic and feel I want to stop my treatment. I ache and because we didn’t do any shopping on Friday my husband has gone now to tescos. I don’t know what I want to eat and feel a bit lifeless at the moment.
My previous two fecs were a doddle but this has wiped me out. Does anyone else feel this way after their 3rd fec?
I found number 1,2 and 3 FEC ok but when i had number 4 it floored me totally. I felt sicker than ever and really unwell. It was like having a different drug! This continued to get worse and the nurse said chemo was accumulative and it was normal.
Your poor body is getting a hammering so take it easy, take the drugs and experiment with what you want to eat! I found bland soft stuff the best like mash potato with lots of butter and soft white bread.
I think it is quite normal - it was the fourth chemo that floored me - the first Tax after 3 FEC. There is bound to be cumulative affect, both physically and emotionally. Hang on in there - you’ll feel better soon. xx
I was on FEC last year and was really unwell on it, but as the days go on it does get better. Have you been prescribed GRANISTERON? It’s a very strong antisickness tablet, only used for chemo and radiation sickness. It worked really well for me.
I also found, even though I didn’t feel like eating, that picking at food every hour or two helped stave off the sickness. For some reason I found salty food seemed to help which is odd as normally I can’t stand salt!
Hope you feel better very soon. In the meantime, cyber hugs ((())) from someone who’s been there!
Love Esme xx
I had 6 FEC and had last one on 18th Jan. I wont lie to you for me they got progressively worse and the last one was horrendous but im now through Rads as well and started herecptin and tamoxifen. In such a short space of time you do forget how bad it is and you do slowly start to get your life back, already planning holidays, nights out and even my hair is returning. I even said to my mum was I really that bad and she reminded me how rough I was. But you do come out the other side, give yoursleves time and I found eating little and often really helped.
Keep ticking off the sessions and bring on the summer!!!
Nicky you are quite right you forget so quickly - now I am on Tax I am pining for FEC, trying to remember what it was like and convincing myself it was a doddle compared to Tax.
mnc I think the food thing is very hard too - it’s about the only thing you can give yourself a treat with, and when that is taken away, it’s very depressing. I love my food and can’t wait to get my taste buds back and get rid of all the horrible mouth se’s.
Hi - I had my 3rd FEC yesterday and started feeling nauseous as soon as treatment started. Had to go to bed when I got home as felt so ill - dizzy, achey, extremely nauseous and had a splitting headache. Woke up this morning still feeling rubbish - certainly much worse than 1st 2. Hope doesn’t get progressively worse!
