Oh love I am so sorry to read this and I completely feel your pain. I wish I could take it all away for you.

Maybe have a word with your oncologist? See what options might be available to you. I know when I was struggling with Docetaxel my oncologist was willing to reduce the strength of the dose which did help. I don’t know whether the same might be possible for Kadcyla, but it’s certainly worth asking the question.

I am sending buckets of moral support to you and wish there was more that I could do. xxx

Thank you for your kind words, good idea I will ask

Sorry I can’t help but I couldn’t just scroll by.

Talk to your team as they may be able to help with some of the symptoms. There’s definitely meds for nausea and I know some people have found the acupressure wristbands you get for travel sickness useful.

Sending a gentle hug.

Hi @bear2 . So sorry to hear you’re struggling with Kadcyla. It isn’t as easy going as portrayed. I guess it’s compared to full on chemo. I did 14 rounds as I didn’t have a complete pathological response to the chemo before surgery back in 2023. They had just started giving it to people with HER2+ primary bc without node involvement at that point. I did struggle with it, particularly after the radiotherapy at the same time. I had to have the dose reduced as my eyesight was being affected and I was struggling with fatigue. I did find this reduction helped and over the 10 months of having it, I found my body seemed to adjust a bit and it became more tolerable. Or it might have been my body was recovering a little from the previous bombardment of chemo, surgery and radiotherapy. I decided to approach it cycle by cycle, not tying myself into the full 14, but just seeing how far I got along the path, and that seemed to help me not feel so boxed in, low and overwhelmed. Definitely let your team know that you’re struggling and they may give you medicines to help with some of the side effects, and/or reduce the dosage to a more tolerable level. I think my reduction was 10%. You’re doing a great job and will get through it all and come out the other side, and your future self will thank you for all the hard work you’re putting in now.

Good luck and best wishes.

Hi Helen, thats all the same as mine, it feels a long road but iam going to ask about 10 per cent thank you for advice and taking time to write

Hi @bear2 . I think I found the Kadcyla part particularly difficult as I wasn’t expecting another 10 months on top of what I had already endured to that point. I’m glad I did it though now I’m the other side. With being relatively young, my Oncologist said if it was his wife or daughter, he’d go for it and add another layer of potential protection against recurrence.

Just reach out if you need any further advice or support.

Best wishes.xx

That is reassuring, I know I have to keep going as don’t want this to come back someday it feels a long way to then end

Thank you so much

Just take it cycle by cycle and see how far you get. I found adopting that approach took some of the pressure off me and gave me back a little bit of control, when everything felt so out of control. You’ve got this and you will get to the end of it all knowing you did everything you could to be disease free moving forward,xx

I’ve got cycle 4 next week. I’ve still got side effects from the original chemo, surgery and RT. Sometimes it all feels like too much. I’ve decided I will reassess the situation when I have done 7 cycles, so half way. Maybe cutting it up into smaller chunks might help mentally? X

Sounds like a good idea, I had idea of getting to number 6 seeing how it felt but think iam going to ask about reducing it a bit

Hi Dilly. Adopting that approach will help as you’re just taking it cycle by cycle and see how far you get. Like you say, you’re still suffering with the previous treatments your body hasn’t had time to even begin to recover from, but I found things improved for me as I moved along, with the 10% reduction and I think my body healed a bit from the chemo and radiotherapy. I never thought I’d do the full 14 but incredibly by chipping away at it, I did. Good luck with no.4 this week. You’ve got this.xx
