40 and diagnosed with BC

Hi Everyone
Was diagnosed with BC last week. Complete shock was convinced it would be a cyst,. Well surgery booked and 3 wks radiotherapy is the treatment plan atm. Still cant believe this is happening.

Hi Pips
im a little younger than you i was diagnosed a month before my 32 birthday. The waiting around at the start is the hardest part. Im currently awaiting surgery myself and found this website a massive help in coping with everything and also learning more about what im facing.
Im not sure if you are interested but there is also a facebook group for younger women set up by breast cancer surviors i have also found this a great support and there is a lot of younger women actively going through treatment right now. If you are interested in joining us search for “Younger Breast Cancer Network (UK)” on facebook.
What surgery have they decided on you having? and if you need to ask anything this is a great place to start

Hi Pips
I am 42 and was diagnosed with BC Easter time, like you I was hoping it was a cyst.
I had surgery with immediate recon three weeks ago, and although still have the odd emotional morning, now feel absolutely great. I am not fully healed yet, physically I am getting there, but actually now feel very normal, (my husband would laugh at that, me being normal!). I have an appointment next week for my radiotherapy plan.
like Lynsey mentioned, you can find out so many things on here, this website has been a fantastic help. It’s actually quite overwhelming when you think how many ladies and gents are affected. It is frightening, you are not the only one - and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You will have good care from your breast nurses, etc.

Take care
