4yrs on and still no sign of reconstruction

Hello
4yrs ago I had chemotherapy, lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy, everything went fine and at my last mammogram everything is clear.
I am on the waiting list for reconstructive surgery as my breast is very deformed and 2 cup sizes smaller than my unaffected breast.
I have tried to stay strong but after 4yrs it is really starting to affect my mental health and i dont know who to turn to. My breast unit and surgon are no help and i feel they have just washed their hands of me and i just dont know what to do as i can’t move on from my cancer . Its not just the cometic element its also the practical side that i cant get bra’s or tops that fit and sit right .
Sorry for the long post but I just dont know what to do.

Not really sure what to advise here but see noone has replied to your post. If your breast care team isnt taking you seriously would it be worth lodging a formal complaint about the wait time & impact its having on you? I dont think itll get you seen any faster but youll have it on record somewhere about how upsetting & impactful it is for you & they may begin to realise this?
Thinking of you

I’m sorry you are experiencing the impact of waiting times. It definitely does have a horrendous effect on mental health, self esteem and generally the way you feel about yourself and attempting to move forward in your life after such a horrendous time. All I can say is I feel you have to put in writing to your breast team, plastic surgeon and maybe even GP how you feel, obviously you feel let down by the system but I’ve learned the hard way that you really must advocate for yourself as best you can. Maybe a friend or someone you trust could help you out into words exactly how this is impacting your ability to move forward, if nothing else it may help you to see in black and white why you feel the at you do. Sending hugs to you x
