Hi. I am 56 years old and was diagnosed with a 6 mm IBC last week. I had my core needle breast biopsy 13 days ago. At first, there was no discoloration, but a yellow area has developed around the site, which now has red patches around it. Is that just the normal healing of the bruising, or does that sound like an infection? At first, there was no discoloration, but a yellow area has developed around the site, which now has red patches around it (no pain, fever, pus, or other symptoms) Is that just the normal healing of the bruising, or does that sound like an infection that needs attention?
Also the biopsy revealed a 0.6 cm (6mm) IBC, grade 2, 4 cm from my nipple (still waiting for HER2 and hormone pathology; genetics unknown). I have my first appt with a recommended surgeon on Tuesday and an appointment for a second opinion next week. Any advice on that front welcome as well…
Thanks in advance!
Hello. I had something similar. Had nothing for days after the biopsy and then some weird skin colouring which later developed into some cracking bruises. The nurse said that it’s like bruising from the inside out so often takes a while to appear. My boob looked worse after the biopsy than it did after surgery!
If you don’t have any other signs of infection then it sounds ok, but you could always phone your Consultant/Nurse to check. I had to do this after radiotherapy as I had a bad skin reaction and they asked for me to email a photo and told me almost immediately yep it looks awful but totally normal!

Hi
I was very similar so much so the consultant couldn’t examine me to feel the lump and how
close it was to the nipple as I was black and blue,
probably for best part of a month.
Hope it goes well for you on Tuesday.
Xx
Hi Folks. I learned this morning that tumor is ERP+ and HER2-. I also learned that my sister had the whole battery of genetic testing and it all came back negative for any/all mutations. I have my surgeon appointment tomorrow and then an MRI scheduled for Wed to assess any lymph node involvement. Guess I am making some progress if you can call it that…
