Hello Everybody
I’m holding a STRAWBERRY TEA this weekend to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. This is the time of year I was diagnosed 6 years ago with HER2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with lymph node involvement. It’s also my birthday and I’m marking the occasion by raising money for this amazing charity who has provided so much help and support to me over the years.
It’s been a long journey with ups and downs and I completed my reconstruction at the end of 2012 and am very happy with the way I now look. Still need a bit of tweaking but for the first time I can go on holiday and wear a bikini and not worry about covering up or whether my softie has made an escape!
My life is so completely different now - I got married two years ago and don’t have that much time to dwell on me and what’s happened - it’s all good - life is good as they say!
With lots of love to you all.
Ruby xx

What a lovely idea Ruby and such an inspiring story. I went to a Macmillan girls night in last week and we raised £1600.
Have a lovely day and Happy Birthday xx
Lynsey thank you and I hope your operation goes well next week. Please let me know how you get on. I remember reading posts from ladies who were years down the line when I was going through treatment and it really helped me xx
ChilliPink - what a great name. My sister lives in Manchester it’s a great place to be and of course if you change your mind, it’s an open invitation…Good luck for next week and I’m sorry you’re having to have another operation but that sometimes happens and I’m sure this time they’ll get clear margins for you. Good luck with your car boot sale - that’s really fantastic xx
OrangeCat & Wak - thank you both very much.
Wattie - I hope your treatment goes smoothly and before you know it, it’ll be over and done with. The time does seem to pass really quickly as you get so caught up in appointments and treatment and before you know it, it’ll be finished. xxx
Melrose15 - thank you too and congrats on raising such an amazing amount of money for Macmillan - another wonderful charity that I made use of xxx
Thanks Ruby i will post back after my op, i keep looking for posts by ladies years on as i feel i need to hear them right now and your post was much needed today.
And i forget to say Happy birthday xx
Lynsey
Hi Ruby,
lovely idea, i too am HER2 5 years this month since diagnosis, awaiting result of scan for lump near scar! if its ok maybe i should have a fundraiser next year. happy birthday x
Hi Lynsey I understand exactly how you feel a need to hear about and read posts from ladies further on down the line with a similar diagnosis - it really helps and having this section for milestones & anniveraries provides exactly that comfort.xxx
Hi Powerjen contrats on the 5 years - that’s fantastic although right now I’m sure you’re not exactly celebrating due to waiting for the scan results. I will be thinking of you. Thank you for the birthday wishes too xx
Today I’m going to be making scones on mass because my Strawberry Tea’s main feature is scones, strawberry jam and cream. I’ve got various people making cakes and I’ve got ice lollies for the kids as well.
Well done you. I’ve got invasive ducal carcanoma too but I’m totally against chemo and operations. I’m trying to cure mine with alternatives but so far not having much luck. Have you any advice please Ruby, you’re so brave . Christina X
