8-10 weeks for a red flag referral!

I’ve been experiencing breast pain for a few weeks with has recently gotten worse. Can’t feel a lump but it does generally feel different. I saw my GP and the have done a red flag referral but told me the waiting time at the moment is around 8-10 weeks!

I know it might be nothing to worry about, but it also might be. I’m trying not to freak out about it’s but, I’m a single parent with 2 young children. My eldest is 5 and has special needs and my Dad has been in hospital for months. So life is kind of stressful enough without this too.

How do people cope with this long of a wait?

For reference I’m in NI.

I was just going to start a thread like this.. i take it your NI? I have been reading a thread from Nov and a few people in similar position were on it - they all seem to have had their appointment now though so o didnt want to jump on

I was red flag referred om 17th Dec and have noticed more symptoms but nothing can be done to speed it up.

Nothing useful to day buy i can empathise, have so many emotions & feelings during the wait xx

Clearly I am managing great as I’ve asked you if your in NI and it literally says in the post lol!

I’m in the same boat with the young kids too x

What Trust area are you in? I’d be in the northern Trust. I did read somewhere earlier that all the red flag referral all basically in one big pool now to get sent wherever can see then soonest. I’d be fine with that tbh.

Just hadn’t really expected the GP to do that, at most I thought they would make just a urgent referral. Haven’t even had time to think about it properly because the kids are only just away to bed.

South Eastern - but your right, it doesn’t matter what are you are in. You can get an appointment anywhere so trust area is irrelevant - they have only changed it in May and I think its been a disaster since.

I had a lump before in my arm pit and I wasn’t overly concerned about but I was still red flagged - it turned out to be nothing. I do think any hint of a lump they will red flag to be safe, and most turn out to be nothing sinister

This time I have a few symptoms so an genuinly concerned and the wait is terrible x
