I’ve been experiencing breast pain for a few weeks with has recently gotten worse. Can’t feel a lump but it does generally feel different. I saw my GP and the have done a red flag referral but told me the waiting time at the moment is around 8-10 weeks!
I know it might be nothing to worry about, but it also might be. I’m trying not to freak out about it’s but, I’m a single parent with 2 young children. My eldest is 5 and has special needs and my Dad has been in hospital for months. So life is kind of stressful enough without this too.
I was just going to start a thread like this.. i take it your NI? I have been reading a thread from Nov and a few people in similar position were on it - they all seem to have had their appointment now though so o didnt want to jump on
I was red flag referred om 17th Dec and have noticed more symptoms but nothing can be done to speed it up.
Nothing useful to day buy i can empathise, have so many emotions & feelings during the wait xx
What Trust area are you in? I’d be in the northern Trust. I did read somewhere earlier that all the red flag referral all basically in one big pool now to get sent wherever can see then soonest. I’d be fine with that tbh.
Just hadn’t really expected the GP to do that, at most I thought they would make just a urgent referral. Haven’t even had time to think about it properly because the kids are only just away to bed.
South Eastern - but your right, it doesn’t matter what are you are in. You can get an appointment anywhere so trust area is irrelevant - they have only changed it in May and I think its been a disaster since.
I had a lump before in my arm pit and I wasn’t overly concerned about but I was still red flagged - it turned out to be nothing. I do think any hint of a lump they will red flag to be safe, and most turn out to be nothing sinister
This time I have a few symptoms so an genuinly concerned and the wait is terrible x
Fingers crossed we all hear soon x this waiting is awful x like urself I dont care were the first initial appointment is just want seen x 8 weeks is too long for anyone with red flag xx anywhere else in UK is 2 weeks xx im just stressing out xx sorry for ranting here just worried sick
Hi there. I had a similar wait last spring March- May feeling the same and at that time I wasn’t hugely worried, just got to take things in the present moment I guess. That helped. However, I the had a complicated lengthy diagnosis process (just bad luck I think it’s usually swift). Looking back, I should have looked into getting a private appointment to speed up. Sorry you are going through this. Also just to say that many (of course not all) people referred don’t need anything done and even those that do, waiting a couple more months doesn’t make the hugest of differences. It was stressful but certainly not in terms of my outcomes/ treatment having such long waits. Big hugs
I got my call on Monday - have an appointment next Tuesday 3rd Feb. I was referred on 17th Dec.
I was calling alot for an update but I really dont think it made a difference - i also paid for a private consultation I had last Thursday as was wrecked with nerves. It was alot of money for a very quick appointment - he said he wasnt worried but it strangely hasn’t settled me all that much.
The wait really plays on your mind - hope you get a call soon xx
I phoned breast booking line today and they told me they are booking people today that we’re referred o. 30th December x my referral was 31st so said I should get a call before end of the week x just being told its near was a relief even thoufh I dont know what ahead im just glad I should hear this week
Just wanted to update — I was seen yesterday and diagnosed with benign cysts. I’m thinking of you all. The waiting is so hard. Sending strength to everyone.”
