A bit of reassurance needed sometimes

Hi
I haven’t been on for quite a while but I had a lumpectomy , left breast 21/2 years ago . All seemed well and hopefully still is .
I had a chest xray and the result showed a section of the left lung to have ‘AtELECTASIS

Not panicking but I’m always curious as when I got my test results breast cancer , it also said oestrogen receptive with lymph node removal but also was told that ‘some cells could of escaped down ‘lymph paths’

I of course got curious , as I did not know what Atelectasis means .
I know , me bad, but then it said it can also be an early lung cancer !

You know what came next !!
I just need a little reassurance please to take my thoughts away ( on my own now hubby passed and discussing with family just gets them worried .

I’m already calming but a little reassurance to steer me away would help .

I am so grateful you are here when I need you , thank you for reading .

Hi @catnip
Thinking of you. Agree with @Tili that a call to the BCN nurses may be quicker and you can discuss the issue in more depth.

Hi catnip

Thanks for your post. It’s understandable that you’re concerned about the results of your chest x-ray and lymph node surgery.

It sounds as if these results haven’t been fully explained to you. It’s important you contact your breast care nurse or treatment team to talk this through, as they are best placed to explain what these results mean in your individual situation.

Some people find talking therapy, such as counselling beneficial. It can be a helpful tool to explore ways of managing the worries and concerns you mention especially as you explain you’re on your own now and talking to your family just gets them worried. Your breast care nurse or GP might be able to help make a referral.

We offer a range of free supportive services which you may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
