Hi all,
I’m 22 years old and last night i found a pea sized lump just beneath the surface of my left nipple. I went to the docs today and she had a feel and told me that she didn’t think it was anything to worry about… But she didn’t tell me what else it might be, i’ve looked about online and i know that many lumps do not turn out to be cancer. How can she tell just through feeling it???
Where is the best place to get a second opinion?
Thanks

Hi Bear13
If you are really concerned, maybe you could ask your GP to refer you for a mammogram or/and ultrasound scan. I had this done once many years ago and it turned out to be nothing. Goood luck.

In someone your age it is something like 80% chance against any lump you find is cancer, especially if it can be moved around. Your doctor must have been jolly convinced she could tell by feeling it if she did not refer you to a breast clinic, even a non urgent referal. Did she ask you to come back later if it had not gone down? Or to do anything?
I would go back and if it anything like my practice you will see a diferent GP anyway and say you are worried and want referring.
It is highly likely that it is a benign lump, but it is always better to check these things out.
Hi Bear13
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums, you’ve come to the right place for some good support.
Could I suggest that you give the helpline here a ring and have a chat with one of the nurses. Calls to the helpline are free, 0808 800 6000, lines open 9-5 Mon - Fri and 9-2 Sat. Hope this helps.
