A cluster of new moles have appeared

I (53) was treated for DCIS in Jan-March 2024 which included radiotherapy and I’m now taking tamoxifen.
I had a cluster of 5 new dark moles all around my nipple on the treated side which I first noticed about 3/4 weeks ago. 3 of the 5 have picked off like scabs a few days ago, leaving a fainter mark like a freckle.
I have had a 10mm melanoma removed from my face about 12 years ago, and the top layer of that also flaked off and bled.
Is this anything to be concerned about or just post-treatment fluxuations?

Hi ndlgp,

Thanks for you post.

It’s understandable that you want to know whether to be concerned about the cluster of dark moles around your nipple on the treated side. Skin reactions from radiotherapy usually happen during and shortly after treatment. However, less commonly, radiotherapy can cause late effects which can include changes to the skin.

As you have noticed these changes, we would always suggest you contact your treatment team or GP so that they can assess the changes and let you know if they may be related to your breast cancer treatments.
