A message for Dippykate

This is a message for Dippykate to say thank you for writing your blog.

About a month ago I noticed a small ring shaped rash under my armpit on my good side and thought absolutely nothing of it.

I don’t read the secondaries threads on here because, with all due respect to all of you ladies, I find it very hard and tend to stick within my DX and prognosis but I have read your blog a couple of times and decided last week to see if you are Ok cos there has been a thread opened by someone expressing concern for you.

I don’t know why but I clicked on the first postings when you outlined your DX and what went on in the early days following the awful news and you mentioned thinking you had developed ringworm that turned out to be spread to the skin.

I instantly got that gut sinking feeling as, although I have no idea what ringworm looks like, this rash is a perfect ring shape.

Anyway to cut a long story short I already had an appt for a week later with my GP, knew there was no chance of getting an earlier one so stuck it out with the wait and the worry and fear but I have now seen him and thankfully he has asssured me it is nothing sinister and all remains well at the moment.

I can’t stop thinking that if it had been more serious I wouldn’t have realised had it not been for your blog so I really would like to say thankyou from the bottom of my heart for taking the time and the considerable effort to share your experience with people and I wish you lots of love.

I know you have contact with Kate so if it is possible please pass my thanks to her if she isn’t reading the forum at the moment, thanks.

Hi I would also like to reiterate the message above, my friends, family and i have all been reading Kate’s blog, I hope you don’t mind but i posted the link to my family and friends and we have all been following Kate’s blog religiously. I always click onto the link to see if she has posted anything else every time i switch on the computer.

I noticed a couple of days ago Kate once again gave support to a member of this forum and would like to thank her and all the other wonderful ladies who keep us informed so well,so we can check our own health, without them i would not know what to look for as my surgeon and breast unit keep everything from me!

Like AJ i was also cautious of going onto the secondary link but I must say that going on far from scaring me gave me reassurance and a lot of help and knowledge that there are many delightful ladies living with secondaries who are in fact living life to the full, holding down demanding jobs and raising families but who help greatly with so much support from the moment you join the forum.

So Kate thank you for your wonderful blog which is so frank and honest and for sharing such an intimate part of your life with us all.

Ohh - thank you so much for that. I think we all learn so much from each other here in the forums than from the professionals. I’m a nurse but I still think I have got more relevant info and more emotinal support from here and other forums than I have from the NHS which is a sad thing to say.
I know when I was diagnosed I came onto the secondary thread and got really scared as there was such a horrifically sad thread on it that I didn’t return until I needed to.
I’m not up to date with my blog yet. We got back from holiday on friday and yesterday was rather hectic so hope to catch up either later today or tomorrow.
I’m glad people find my writings useful - I’ve had some unusual secondaries which can be worth knowing about but so glad for you AJ you got good news.
I also just enjoy writing and if there is going to be an incident somewhere you know I’ll always be caught up in it so it’s not always doom and gloom and I like to see the funny side of things as well - if not I might as well give up now.
I don’t mind who reads my blog - I left it deliberately open rather than just naming a specific group of frends/ family just incase there was anything ever useful to others in it.
Got to chase boys to eat breakfast and tidy their bedroom - any tips on that then!!!
Thanks - I really appreciate your support and comments. If you want to comment on my blog (I like to get them then I know people are reading it!!!) then just be aware of what name you are using as I don’t seem to be able to edit the name out so make something up if you want to be unidentified.
Love Kate

AJxxx, Please get checked for Lyme’s Disease. Your rash is a symptom of it. Funnyface
