A new book to read

Hi all,

I was doing a bit of surfing this afternoon and came across this book:

The Cancer Survivor’s Companion - Practical ways to cope with your feelings after cancer.

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0052RMO50/ref=docs-os-doi_0

I’ve only just started reading it but I’m already impressed, it’s almost like someone got inside my head!

I have just been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because the mental trauma all of the scary, nearly dying stuff during chemo affected me far worse than I had first realised and I wasn’t coping with any of it very well at all. This book takes a look at various different types of emotions you might experience after treatment is over and gives you practical advice on how to cope with it all.

I felt the same way looking through this as I did when I read the Moving On resource pack - relief that what I’m going through is a) completely normal and b) something can be done to help.

This book may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I thought folks might be interested.

you will need to replace the stars for it to work.

not usually a fan of the daily mail but they speak highly of the book, too!

From the front of the book -

“This book sensitively addresses the ongoing issues that so many people face when moving forward after treatment for breast cancer. Importantly, it enables readers to see that they are not alone in their experience.” - Dr Emma Pennery, Clinical Director, Breast Cancer Care.

There really is a gap in the market for this sort of thing and I think it makes a great companion to the moving on resource pack. I’m very glad I bought it.

Thanks Hatty, that made me smile!
