I hope this post serves to help people see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Like everyone on this site I’ve had a rough couple of years, I was dx Jan 2008,surgery (6 times) chemo, Herceptin, numerous hospital admissions and a trip to the high dependancy unit in-between left me feeling like not only was I hit by a train but dragged along by it too.
However I just ran the London Marathon on Sunday! It took me 4 hours 49 minutes 02 seconds and it hurt like hell and I was a bit disappointed to be beaten to the finish by a beer bottle and a banana!!! however the crowd were amazing and to see my lovely husband and three young children cheering me on along the embankment was the most amazing experience of my life.
I have managed to raise nearly £11,000 for BCC and my choice to run for BCC was totally inspired by the support I have received on this site over the last 2 years. You are an amazing bunch of cyber friends and although I don’t post much these days I often still log on for a read if I’m feeling the need. Thank you to the lovely ladies on this site who have sponsored me. My page is still open for 3 months (edited by Moderator. For the web address please private message eal69eal)
In the meantime I am eternally grateful that I managed to get my fitness back to do this and recognise that taking on such a crazy antic is probably not a recommended route to recovery but if it helps just one person on this site who is going through treatment to see that it is possible to get a life back, albeit a bit different from before then all good.
Congratulations - an amazing feat and an incredible amount of money raised.
Now sit down and put your feet up!
(The beer bottle and banana bit really made me laugh!)
Well done, you should be very proud of yourself. I am hoping to follow in your footsteps in 2012 (to celebrate five years clear I hope), but currently following my LD op two months ago, am struggling to run two miles! So lots of training still needed.
A fantastic achievement! Well done you!
Such an amazing amount of money raised too. You are indeed a star!
I watched the Marathon this year sobbing throughout as BC stories were told… This is my first year with BC and the huge number of families especially those with young children I heard about through the event was quite staggering.
I’m sure everyone who knows you is indeed very proud of you.
Hope your muscles are gradually easing…
I’m full of admiration. Think it is time I got off my but and got exercising again (Herceptin finishes in July). Well done for raising so much for BCC you should be rightly proud of yourself.

Many congratulations on completing the London Marathon and for raising so much money for Breast Cancer Care, it is very much appreciated by everyone here.
Wow that’s brilliant. My incredibly fit brother ran it this year in 3 hours 49, so for you to do it in that time sounds an amazing feat. Well done for raising all that cash too - brilliant.
