Hiya had breast cancer back in Feb2006 had a WLE no lymph node involvement, had radiotheraphy and hey presto - happiness. Now found another lump on the upper part of my breast away frm the orginal site. Awaiting hospital refferal 2 week quick appontent. But can anyone tell me can you have two WLE or is it pretty much a mascetomy on another lump? Silly question I know but it is soething I have no idea about .
Hi pretty kitty
Sorry to hear about your lump. I have today posted on local recurrence as I too found a lump last week and it was confirmed on Monday that it had come back. (Sorry not what you want to hear). The thing is I had a WLE in Oct 06 and have had herceptin, was due to have my last treatment next week. I am instead having a mastectomy and to be honest I am not really bothered. I have just undergone a CT and bone scan to check for mets which thankfully are clear and I am not bothered about losing my boob as I am so grateful that I don’t have mets.
Hope this helps.

Hi Prettykitty - you can have 2 WLEs to the same breast. I had first in 1990 and like you no node involvement - second in April this year and now on Arimidex for 5 years and doing well after the initial side effects have almost worn off. And I do not have big breasts. Good luck and please keep us informed of how thing go.
Hi Prettykitty,
When I had a recurrence under the lymph node clearance scar, I was offered anotherv WLE, but chose to have a mastectomy. My surgeon went on offering right up to her pre-theatre ward visit an hour before surgery! So yes, you can have more than one WLE in the same breast.
Good luck

Thank you all for your quick replies I appreciate it. I am seeing my consultant Tues. Sorry for the dodgy spelling my keyboard keeps sticking.
Removing the breast would not bother me, I have a strong family history of breast cancer and all my aunts and Mom have come through it fine so to me Breast cancer is a sirmish not a battle. Although I am monitored due to family history Mom and two aunts have had both breast removed due to cancer 2 before 60 one at 61. And an aunt I did not know who died of breast cancer aged 27 in 1959. And when caring for her daughter my Nan said her older sister had died of breast cancer but back then in 1917 no one spoke of breast cancer, so Nan was not certain but when she nursed her daughter she was certain…I also have two cousins one who had a mastectomy and one who has had a WLE like me.
So y attitude is positive…I wish you all all the best.
Olivia can I ask did you have radio the first time like me or radio the second…I know I could wait and find out from the hospital but it is worrying.
