What is the study?
This USA-based study investigates adolescents and young adults with cancer, who face physical, psychosocial, emotional, and developmental challenges that are unique to their age group. Younger adults have higher rates of anxiety and depression than in older adults which may have an effect on their levels of hope. The instruments used in this study are an investigator developed Demographic Tool, The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, the Herth Hope Index, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale.
Who’s organising it?
The study is run by Sharon McNeil from the University of South Florida. This is a USA-based study.
What’s the criteria for taking part?
- Aged 18 – 30 years
- Have had an experience of cancer in the past 5 years
- Has had a primary diagnosis only
