I am still experiencing abdominal pain especially around the upper right, side and sometimes round my back, four weeks after 2nd TAC chemo (chemo has been delayed as I had to have a heart scan which was fine so just waiting for a date to resume chemo) and I wondered if anyone else gets this. I don’t know if it is wind, muscle pain or my liver/kidneys! (dont think it is this as I had a ultrasound before chemo and everything was fine) but it is still a worry. I will tell onc when I next speak to him but wondered if others have experienced this.
i would definitely phone your onc now rather than wait, not because i think its anything to worry about but because s/he may be able to prescribe something. I have had 2 tax now but cant comment on how i feel after week 4 as they hit me with my second tax on week 3! But up til that point my tummy was still sore and a bit off and tender, and i could actually feel my liver area being affected and having pain. My friend, an oncologist, said that if you imagine how woolly, puffy and swollen your mouth feels after the chemo, then thats how your digestive track, liver etc also feel. makes sense. Good luck, but give your oncs secretary a qick ring to check maybe, hope you feel better soon
I wonder if it’s acid reflux or acid indigestion. Mine started a few days after my last taxotere and I have posted on here and found others did too.
Symptoms do vary but get a burning feeling, at its worst it goes between the shoulder blades, and you can have bloating, wind etc. It’s usually worse after eating. If it this then your Onc will be able to give you some meds to help. Taxotere can also be very constipating which can cause a lot of discomfort.
I agree that it’s best to contact your Onc or chemo team sooner rather than later. That way if its anything that needs treating with meds you can get started before your next chemo. It will helpful to them to have a full list of your symptoms and what your pain is like eg. burning, dull ache, sharp pain etc.
I was thinking it was maybe a mixture of the things you have said, I was taking Lansoporazale for acid reflux as I suffered with this before chemo but my nurse advised me to stop taking it when I was having my palpitations. She did say to take them again if the acid indigestion flares up again so I may take them and I might get something for the wind as I am pooping like a trooper at the moment! I do feel bloated too which is a sign of constipation and wind, don’t we have some exciting conversations whilst on chemo!
I am waiting for a call from the onc about my heart scan and when my chemo can start again so I will tell him then.
