I have two more months of Olaparib to go - adjuvant treatment for high-risk BRCA2+ early breast cancer. My oncologist wants me to have abemaciclib for 2 years after that. We are waiting for approval from my health insurance. Anyone else on the same path? It is all fairly new, I understand…
Hi @Nat1984 ,sorry you haven’t had a reply to your post as yet . Just responding so hopefully someone with experience of this treatment will respond. Best wishes Jill
Im only 3 months into Olaparib and they’ve said that I’ll have Abemaciclib afterwards too and my insurance has agreed to it already. It’s much cheaper than Olaparib so they shouldn’t be too upset by it as it’s £1475 per month instead of £5500 a month! Good luck with Abemaciclib. Interestingly, I stopped Olaparib to have my ovaries removed and so many of the aches and pains that I blame Anastrazole for just agucally disappeared. Then I restarted and they all returned. Makes me think that Olaparib is harder than I realised and certainly to blame for a lot more aches and fatigue than I gave it credit for.
Hi @swk1981 thank you for your reply. I’m due to start Abemaciclib next week! My insurance has approved it. Quite nervous. I finished Olaparib last month (then had my ovaries out) and haven’t noticed any difference really. I have joint pain from exemestane, and it has remained the same. x
