I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my liver and lymph nodes in peritoneum and left breast in January this year. My primary diagnosis was in September 2021 and I was Stage 3, grade 3 ER positive.
My treatment was chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and then tamoxifen and abemeciclib. I was one of the first women to go on to abemeciclib and wondered if there is anyone else out there who has taken it and had a recurrence…?
I’m on my first treatment line (Everolimus and Fulvestrant) with a scan in 4 weeks to see if that is working or if I have become resistent to hormone treatments. I had a liver biopsy and my tumors were stll showing as ER+Ve
I realise finding someone else won’t make a difference to the outcome but it I wondered if this has happened to anyone else?
Hi @juliets, I am so sorry to hear about your secondary breast cancer diagnosis.
I am not in your situation but I was diagnosed with primary lobular breast cancer on the 2nd of July 2021, stage 3 with 3 lymph nodes involvement, ER8 PR8. I had mastectomy, full lymph node removal, chemo, radiotherapy and I was put on Abemaciclib on the 9th of June 2022 but finished taking it last year June. Yes, I was also one of the first ones to start taking it even before it was available on the NHS for primary breast cancer ladies. I was taking the combo of Abemaciclib and Letrozole and I’ve still got 4 years left of the dreaded Letrozole. I don’t know how old you were when diagnosed or what type of cancer it was but gathered that you haven’t gone through the menopause, hence, taking Tamoxifen.
I was 43 years old at the time of my diagnosis not even perimenopausal and was put in the medically induced menopause in November 2021 and am on 3 monthly Prostap injections in order to keep me in the menopause so I can be put on Aromatase Inhibitors.
I had a PET scan and am seeing my oncologist next week as my LFTs haven’t been good consistently for a while now. And am really dreading what’s he going to say…
One of my closest friends was diagnosed at the same time as me but with TNBC and she was diagnosed with secondary BC in May last year.
I can’t even imagine what are you going through but just wanted to say there are so many amazing people on this forum and the support I’ve had is amazing…!!!
Wishing you all the best for your treatment. Take care. xxx
Thank you - I am 55 and was put on Tamoxifen as I couldn’t tolerate Extamestane (the pain in my hands was unbearaable). Thanks for reaching out and I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. And you.
I was diagnosed in june 22 with er+ breast cancer at 58 years of age after treatment i had letrozol and abemaciclib which i took for nearly a year but was taken off abemaciclib as i kept getting infections. Was diagnosed with secondaries just before last Christmas x Good luck with your treatment xx
Oh Juliets

Liver biopsy doesn’t sound nice.
I tried the cibilibs meds and all three made me ill
I’m not in your situation but sending prayers and
