Abraxane - side effects

Hi All

I am on my 3rd cycle of Abraxane for lung and bone secondaries. Apparently its a fairly new drug and quite expensive. I was just wondering if any of you ladies had experience of it as i’m finding it pretty hard going. My fingers and feet are numb which is a common side effect but i feel flattened for 7-10 days after having it, when i can drag myself out of bed I have no appetite and just want to sleep, i have also noticed i have very little control over my bladder for a few days as well. I dont mind putting up with this if it is effective (get results of bone scan and CT scan next week)and was just wondering how other folk had found it.

Best wishes to you all in your own battles…love Trish

Trish,
I had Abraxane after I had an allergic reaction to docetaxol…
Like you, the main side effect was numb fingers and toes, but this went away as soon as I stopped chemo.
Taste was horrible also.
My hair started to grow back a little during FEC, but lost everything on Abraxane (its starting to grow back on my head now, although leg hair was back within a few weeks!)
In my case, it got easier with each chemo rather than worse.
I wish you well with the treatment, it really is the gold standard in chemo.
Best wishes
Marguerite
