Accident & Sickness insurance for self-employed

Hi,
I was diagnosed and treated in 2004 (primary BC in one breast, lymph involvement). My job will soon be redundant and I’m thinking of setting up a business, but feel uncomfortable that I will have no company sickness benefits. The first ins company I contacted said they would probably give me cover but exclude BC.

Does anyone know any insurance companies who are prepared to offer cover including the BC risk.

I have searched many cancer help web-sites and can find general advice, but nothing specifically mentioning useful companies. (Except for travel insurance.)

Sorry to be negative, but I think you are unlikely to find anything suitable. Most insurance companies will sell you a policy but only on the condition that you’re not covered for any pre-existing condition. Even if you can find someone to cover your BC, the premiums will probably be extortionate.
