Does anyone know anything about how accurate the tests are for HER2. The reason I ask is because I was Grade 2 lobular and told I was also hER2. From my research this seems to be almost unheard of. Would welcome others ideas/experience of tests.
Starfish
Laboratories have to jump through numerous hoops to be able to perform the Her2 test. This includes validation of the test and very stringent quality control mechanisms, and assessment by outside organisations. This enables the laboratory to prove (and give confidence to the patient) that the test they perform is as accurate as possible. If you have any concerns you should raise these with your surgeon or oncologist.
Hope this helps
HI, I am grade 2 lobular mixed ductal with her2+++ maybe as only 15% of breast cancers are lobular,Combine that with 20% of all breast cancers are her2 +,then maybe we are few and far between having both a diagnosis of lobular and her2+ status.
Lobular carcinomas are almost always Her2 negative. Only subtypes of lobular carcinoma, namely pleomorphic lobular carcinoma, are positive.
