Did anyone else experience the most horrendous arm pain after recon surgery? My op took eleven hours and the most painfull part when I came round was the arm pain. I assume this is because of the way I was positioned during surgery and the muscles seized up after such a long time…Apparently they are looking into doing physio while patients are ‘on the table’ as this often happens… but no one warned me this may happen and it was like no other pain I have experienced and SO frightening.
Yes my arms really ached too, when I spoke with the surgeon and the anaesthetise they both advised its due to the long ops and our arms being taped down, we are shaped as if on a cross and like you I wasn’t warned either, infact was really scared it would cause lymphoedema, (it didn’t)
