Adjacent chemo

Just wondering if anyone is having or had chemo before or instead of chemo and if so how many cycles it took before they noticed any difference in their lump? I had chemo in Oct '17 after having a WLE. I was diagnosed in January with a recurrence and have had one cycle of Caboplatin, with my second cycle due tomorrow. My lump increased in size whilst I was waiting for chemo, but my onc said she wasn’t surprised and that the chemo would shrink it and reduce the pain. I think the pain has got a little better, but I can’t see or feel any reduction in the lump. I’m not sure if I’m worrying unnecessarily and it would normally take a few cycles before there’s any noticeable difference.

I’d be grateful if anyone could let me know about their experience, thank you x

I meant to say having chemo before surgery or just chemo x

Hi Jencat

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had a recurrence of BC

-i haven’t been on here for a while!

I had chemo before my mastectomy but I never actually felt my lump…it was found on a routine mammogram and I could never bring myself to feel it!

When I saw my surgeon after my mx he told me that the largest piece of tumour they found when examining my breast was 4 mm so it had gone from 7 cm to 4 mm -hopefully your treatment “does the trick”… thinking of you!
