Advice on recon while on Herceptin

Can I please ask a silly question. I’m due to start Herceptin next week and am wondering if I need to complete the course before I can have my recon. Thanks Sam

I can only comment on my situation but I did have to finish Herceptin and then have a two week gap before they would operate. I go in today!

I know it seems like a long time to wait but I was lucky enough to go back to work and the time flew by. Herceptin doesn’t stop you getting on with life at all so you are not just sat around waiting.

Hi

I had reconstruction last October and was half way through my Herceptin. They just wanted to wait 6 months after i had finished rads.So everyting had time to settle down.

Hi,

I was scheduled to have my recon last March, whilst still on Herceptin. The op was cancelled, but it was nothing to do with the Herceptin, my PS was aware that I was due another 5 or 6 doses before I finished.

Thanks all so much for your replies. Spoke to my BC nurse today and she said very much the same, roll on December now which will be my first year mammogram and then I can get the ball rolling !

i am having my mastectomy and immediate bilateral reconstruction done beginning of november im due to start my herceptin next tuesday. xx
