The first time when i arrived to the Chemo center, i was terrified inside but when the infusion start to go thru my veins i said to myself : what is in this bottle will be as much as good and beneficiary for me as if it was vitamin c, and e if i would take so much vitamin c it will give me some SE…
and next 14th of august i am doing my 4th round, the worst side effect i got was the fall of my hair :)))
You know what, lets get vber this all together, and next summer i invite you all to have wonderfull hollidays in Turkey

Just a quickie…re the hair loss.
I had read a thread on here re: permenant hair loss following TAX. I ran this passed my BCN and Onc. Neither they, nor any of their associates have ever known a patient whose hair hasn’t re-grown. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen but please don’t let a few cases plague you… You all have enough to cope with right now.
My hair has grown back twice as thick and in ringlets, and the cold cap worked for me too - I’m not the only one… read some of the positive blogs

I have just had my second Tax today and must admit that I was really scared before my first one and still just a little bit scared today
But I found the SE different to FEC in so much as I did not have such a bad reaction to the injections and had no feeling of sickness
however I had a bit of a cough and sore nose which my Gp helped with he has given me alupent syrup to open up my airways and a cream for my nose and cough has got better but voice seems husky at times, tiredness has been more but not in so much as had to go for naps but just not functioning 100% and have not worked as yet on TAX as not felt up to it where as I did on FEC for weeks 2 & 3
Aches and pains were not as bad as I feared that they would be mostly they were in area where I am prone to them due to previous whiplash injury
I am trying dark nail varnish to try and stop any problems with my nails
wiil keep you all posted on how I go this time

well thats the 1st tax done
no allergy to it… feel ok just tired due to not getting to sleep till 2 this morning due to nerves and acid due to steriods. told i can take omeprozole the day before steriods next time and also given weaning off doses of steriods to help with the crash from them so will be interesting to see if they work. to start taking thrush pills tonigh so hopefully i wont suffer too much with oral thrush… the nurse couldnt have been more helpful wich was brill.
just waiting for the SE to kick in early next week. but will keep you posted on how i get on.

Hi, I had my last taxotere last week and the best things I discovered were:
Take 50mg Vit B6 three times a day for the numb/red hands and feet
Use children’s toothpaste - I tried the biotene but found that my teeth didn’t feel clean. Children’s toothpaste doess’t sting your mouth and tastes much nicer!

well had first tax yesterday,was very calm and had no allergic reaction,which i think happenens within the first 5-10 min,if its going to happen, but i also beleive you can work yourself up,felt fine all evening apprat from abit of indigestion which i have tabs for,have been out shopping today,nurse did say that first couple of days your steriods make you feel better, mine run out today so will let you know, but noooooooooooo sickness which i did have with first 2 fec, no nausea at min either, so making the best of this sunny day ,
i am drinking 2 litres of fizzy water a day,have also bought a kiddy tooth brush and milder tooth patse,i also rinse my mouth with hot salt water before i have my first drink,it worked with fec but will see hoe it goes with tax,also mouth wash every nite not just chemo week,will let you no how se go
and thankyou to everyone else who has given advise
About the perminate hairloss, my sisters hair took along time to come back until they dicovered she had over-active theroids, treated her for this and her hair grow back lovely

HI,Sally ,Julie m it is so nice to hear your comments about first TAX not been that bad so far as i was getting really anxious as the time comes close to my first one 19.08.so it is good to know what to expect Thank you to everyone else for giving their advice how to cope with TAX…I will be day after you Debs…so i enjoy been normal again…doing gardening shoping have new car as well a bit more reliable to take me to my rads every day for month,later on when chemo is over…love to you all Pauline will be thinking of you next thursday…Christina

PS : first days i allways have severe constipation problems, despite my 2 liters daily water and mostly veggie based food, therefore magnesie calcinee and/or dupholac helps a lot.
But for people with diabetes or similar problems duphalac being glucose based, is not suggested, even thoughits so mild that its a pediatric laxative as well…

day 2 of 1st tax and so far so good , dont feel so yucky or sicky as on the fec, was never sick on fec anyway. feel alot more chirpper as well. have got yucky mouth but started taking thrush pills last night so they should kick in soon. taste buds are on there way out too but thats normal for me at this stage too. have been suffering with alot of laughing bottom (wind)as my OH calls it, i blame the chemo LMAO litteraly LOL
my ONC saidd that the aches can start on days 3 or 4 if you are to get them so as tomorrow is day 3 we shall see hey.
im off to bed now but i’l keep you posted on how its going

good morning all
so far so good, forgot to say ,when my tax was beeung administer through drip, id remembered someone saying, have ice -looly to suck,for substutuite i took a bottle of frozen water and a frozen jelly by the time my treatment started it had melted enough,and ate and drank through treatment, dont no if it will stop me getting mouth probs, but it was very refreshing and im sure took my mind off treatment,!!!
sally ,i no what you mean about laughing bottom, on fec mine were better than oh s,kids looked at me gone out, shall see if same happens with tax,
waiting for district nurse to come and give me jab for white blood count,any advice on se for this thanks

I wonder if the B6 would help my long term peripheral neuropathy-its not really disabling but is a constant reminder.I wish my eyebrows would grow.I finished tax in May 2007 and expected to be back to normalish by now.[Was told it could be 3 years though].
Before is started my initial treatment my BS prscribed me benexol
a complex of B1 B6 abd B12 vitamins two tablets daily and untill now no tingling or nerves problems

well on day 3 now and its so far not too bad , got the yucky mouth and taste buds but thats normal, legs feel a little achey but nothing that needs painlillers, have been out shopping today and done washing etc. been looking for B6 but as yet cant find any well not in suermarkets but might see if i can get some from Drs as we have free perscriptions here in wales, it’l save a few quid.
I had cold gloves on while having treatment and wondered if anyone else had them as well if they worked/helped with hands.
I feel abit tired but think thats from the sleeping pills i take while on steriods as they keep me awake but down to 2 today and then 1 tomorrow , being weaned of them to see it will help with combat the crash effect from them.
Glad your doing ok julie m, can i have some of your sun though please.
Oh and just in cse you really want to know ive been to loo today so may not be getting the constipation either. defo better on sicky front though.
