day 5, feeling very down today,and achey but taking co-codomol and it helps,chest has been tender and also nail beds but it all is managerble, eating chocolate mousse because i can taste that, also drinking choc at night, not sleeping very well even though i have sleeping tabs,think its the humid nights,

Julie how many times do you have injection for, onc said something about days 5 to 10, that will take me to day we go away. do you do it or does a nurse? She told me it will make the aches and pains worse, but will be worth it as without them i would probably get delayed.
Off to bed soon, not expecting much sleep after 8 steroids today. good job i have a good book.

hi pauline,its ur first tax today isnt it ? just wanted to say good luck to u. IF your talkin about the white cell boostin injections I have those also,theyre given from the day after chemo,once a day for five days,my hubby gives me mine.They multiply the aches and pains ten fold in my case.I take ibuprofen for that tho (only after steroids out of system).

thanks sharon, yes first Tax this afternoon. told mine would be day 5 to 10 i think and yes she warned me it would intensify the pains. never mind, has to be done. not looking forward to it though.

Just wanted to say all the best Pauline for this afternoon, just think how good you’ll feel when you’re back at home and the first one’s done. I had to have the injections as well, I did them myself and like anything you just get used to it, I had them for all 3 cycles of Tax and I managed fine, I didn’t feel they made anything worse so fingers crossed for you.

day 6, dont feel to bad at min, but aches seem to be worst in evening,op arm is a bit uncomfortable at min, but dont feel so down today, pauline good luck hope the se are kind to you,i had my injection just once on the sunday after chemo and a district nurse came round,i will have another after next 2 tax,

Just a quicky… feeling better today, still not brilliant but alot lot better. had a raised temp last night rang hosp and they said check in 1 hour so i did and it was down so they sais that was ok, got a phone call at 9 this morning saying can i come and have blood tests… neuts are very low but thats ok… just gotta keepa an eye on temp. s.o far today been ok…

Hi all,
I also had my first TAC yesterday - scary watching all those chemicals pumped into the body! at least I know what to expect now. felt fine during the treatment and when I got back home at first then WHAM! Actually got a few hours sleep though - till 3am, then tea and ginger biscuit! Today I just feel totally washed out, absolutely no energy, almost crawling up the stairs - and to think i had thought of going to work today - ha ha. Apart from slight nausea (thanks to pills, sea bands, ginger etc)everything except water and tea tastes foul!
Tomorrow I start the stomach injections - I knew nothing about them until yesterday - what else don’t I know! Supposed to be going to a BBQ on sat evening - mmm, maybe/maybe not!
Anyway, good to hear that others are going through the same and we can compare notes and hopefully help and boost each other when required.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes today, (bit of cut and paste going on here now) back from chemo. 4 down 2 to go, how good does that sound. Having the Tax administered was better than the FEC. no stinging vains from epi. i was told i shouldnt have trouble with sore veins any more either so that should be good. feel fine at min and just had a cooked dinner. warned about aches and pains to come though. my bloods were 1.2 on tuesday and they were going to give me injections. reteasted on wed and they had shot up to 5.something in 24 hours so dont need injections now, how good is that!
Julie and sally, sounds like your on the mend, slowly though. sally sorry to here you have had temp problems, lucky it went down so you didn’t have to go in, might not let you out julie would probably say. take care of yourselves and dont rush things.

Hi all been a bit naughty read first pages and skipped to last!!
Wanted to tell you about my taxotere experiences.
I had 4x EC then 4x Tax finished on 20th May this year.
The first tax I had was by far the worst (I read someone else had the throat from hell on this thread!!).
Had the throat from hell (lasted 10 days!ready for next bloody lot)
Had thrush up and down stairs (if you get my drift?).
My hubby had to ring Dr my bone pains were that bad which he prescribed morphine (weak one though).
Constipation (you get used to this!!)
Fatigue I was sleeping 13 hours a day and time in between!!
Forgot to mention sludge gob!!
The second lot I never got the really bad throat (just the throat!)
I only got thrush orally this time.

pains were not as bad each lot I had but by the end (taxotere builds up in your body) I could hardly walk as my thighs were that bad and heavy !
But good news it doesn’t last forever and you might not be as bad as I was.
Another thing regarding tax and coldcap I was told not to bother with coldcap too,I wish I hadn’t listened!!
On my thread (hairloss) there is a lady (brightlight)who did use colcap throughout her 3xFec & 3xTax and it deffo worked for her!!
So dont give up girls.

morning all, just reporting in. Had a lot better nights sleep, probably due to no sleep the night before and taking last steroids by 1.30pm. NO NAUSIA which is great and no pain in the veins from the epi. Only SE so far which started about 10pm being really hot one min and freezing the next, my quilt was on and off more times than a prostitutes quilt last night lol.
I am not complaining, this has been load better than the fec, so far. I know that this wont last so going to make the most of it today.
Sally and julie, hope you two are feeling much better and are in for a good weekend ahead.
seda, good luck today with your tax, hope you have it as good as me.
caron, thanks for the advise, i like to know all the possibile SE so you know what is normal when any of these SE happen and advice on how to treat them helps too. Hope your treatment free now, i still have a long way to go after the last tax.

well last night had bad backache,and not sleeping very well, even though i have sleeping tab,mt operation side is very uncomfortable aswell, just made myself a lovely salad, well i think it was lovely as i couldnt taste it, made a chilli last nite which i think was mega hot ,could just about taste the spices, mouth is alittle bit sore but am still rinsing alot, havent really been tierd though, just abit cannot be bothered
caron, you did have a ruff time, was you as bad on fec? or did you get it all with tax

im about the same as you Julie except im feeing buggered all the time still managing to do washing etc but thats about all. my sofa has my imprint on it i think.
taste buds still cack and not sleeping well either. ive got a really dry mouth still too even though ive got pastels from Dr.
Well it can only get better i feel.

This time i ask the nurse to have the treatment thru my foot,
so my arm will get a rest, it was beautiful done, no pain, no burning,i am thinking to continue this way…
I feel fine though i wake up 6.30 this morning - must be the steroids- i will continue with them 4 days more instead of 2 days but i will have half injections : 4 mg instead of 8, so the crash its not so bad.
Until now i never had neupogen or granocyt injections and i hope for those 2 left sessions i will be able to not need them, too many side effects…
Now i will go and cook for tonight : parmesan chicken and potatoes
oven baked , green salad&tomatoes , and thee most red and sweet watermelon ever
