Hello Ladies,
I’m hoping someone will come back to me about this.
I’m starting on tuesday with the chemo and I’ve seen some beanies but not actually bought anything yet.
I think i like bandanas or scarves but not got lots of extra cash.
So if you have any websites you can recommend I would appreciate it.
Love Fran

Hi Fran,
there are a few older threads on this very topic if you look back by typing ‘scarves’ or some such into the search box from the forums (not latest posts) screen.
I used a website called annabandana, as have many others on here. They have a very quick turn around time, are very inexpensive, and I was happy with what I got. Other people who are perhaps more discerning than I didn’t like them, For me, a scarf at £4 or thereabouts was fine. The website is annabandana.co.uk/
There is also The India Shop theindiashop.co.uk/acatalog/Headscarves_in_100__pure_cotton.html which people have found good value.
I know some other people have also bought hijabs (muslim style scarves)and been very pleased with them.
Otherwise, there are such places as Accesorize, Primark and even big supermarkets often have a few.
Hope you find something suitable at a price you are happy with, and that all goes well for you with treatment.
Fran
Their bonnet caps start from 99p and are really good if you just want something simple. I bought a few and have found them really useful to wear around the house and also in bed at night.
The pull over ones are open at the back so best to stick to the tie backs or the other ones (the ‘sameera’ are nice)
You can easily learn to tie your own turban with a long scarf and there is tutorial here: youtube.com/watch?v=sspRAXGnmLw
Hi Fran,
Here’s a couple of You Tube videos that may be of help …

You’ll find you can use any scarf if you practise - I found scarves bought 3 for 2 at outlet villages/discount stores were just as good as the “chemo” headscarves!
Hope this helps

Ciara makes the most beautiful headscarves and headware and has trod our path so knows exactly how we feel. She was so lovely and supportive when I spoke with her. Would reccommend her to everyone.
I stocked up with scarves, hats and sleep caps from various places , pre hair loss, but found I hated them all. They just didn’t suit my head shape when my hair had gone. Perhaps they didn’t fit in with my vision of what I should look like. Others wearing the same things looked fine. I wore three ordinary pure Cotton headscarves. I doubled them over at the front by three inches to give height or bulk and tied them peasant girl style behind my head. These I used day and night, but I wore my wigs all the time in company. I got so used to them I really didn’t notice I had them on…but it was winter. I did at one stage become a wigaholic and bought five. The problem was there is a wig and scarf shop in the Oxford Cancer Centre…it is very tempting and everything can be tried on which is so much better than ordering blind.
My hair is now about an inch long and I am wearing nothing apart from wigs when I go out.
I found BUFFS invaluable… I slept in them, wore them round the house… kept one in my handbag as an extra layer… they are more comfortable than scarves, and you can get thermal ones if you want, as well as UV ones, loads of colours/styles. Not glamourous for going out, but VERY practical and comfy. YOu can wear them as a beanie, or knotted at the back… Online from BUFF or bike shops or outdoor shops…Jane
I have seen people wearing what looks like a fine weave hat under scarfs does anyone know where to get them x
Hi Leeds 39, I was a hat and scarf girl ( and bought too many)and would be happy to pass mine on to you as I am now sporting the Sinead O’Connor look and don’t need them anymore. I asked at the hospital if there was any where I could donate them but they can’t take them( I might be infected!!) They have been washed. Message me if you are interested and I will post to you.
Look after yourself.

I’m a big Buff fan. Got several, and still use them as hats when walking the dog even though I now have hair, just to keep my ears warm.
my favourite was suburban turban - they come up if you google them- really lovely milner designed hats and very soft for bald heads - Nicky super friendly too if you need to call them about anything,
