Advice please
Advice please Hi everyone I am having genetic testing done in 2 weeks time no family history of breast or ovarian cancer but as I was only 24 when diagnosed I was asked if i wanted to have the test done they have told me they dont think I will carry the BRCA 1 gene as my cancer was receptor possitive and they said people who have the BRCA 1 gene are not normaly receptor positve.
I am having my implant changed some time in the near future as it was damaged and I would like some advice please if the test comes back that I dont have BCRA 1 of the BCRA 2 gene they said they will be able to do more test to see if I carry any other genes that can lead to getting breast cancer if all is fine do you think I should have another mastectomy on the other side to be on the safe side. I am really confused on what to do but I have always had lumps on my good side and they docxtors were always checking them for me and they just use to say the lumps were fine, but I am worried that one day one the lumps might turn in to a cancerous lump.
What should I do???

Hi Claire,
First read my profile but do not be frightened by the information you see there.I had the braca 1 gene and was 80% at risk of getting it again and maybe next time i would not be so lucky so I made the decision to have my healthy breast removed. But you are not thought to have this gene and so to rush into any into anything would not be a good idea. You are panicking and so many things are going through your mind, you need to take things slowly , try not to dwell on negative thoughts, they dont think you have the braca 1 or braca gene so try to be a little positive. Also my reconstruction of both breasts although they can never be the same as my own breasts are brilliant. We are here for you claire.

Please can anyone help? My mum has just been diagnosed with Lymphatic & breast cancer and is due to start 6 months of chemotherapy on Friday which will eventually lead to surgery. My dad has prostrate cancer which is currently controlled (he refuses the op). My Grandad (Dad’s dad) passed away from liver cancer 7 years ago, and last year my aunt (mum’s sister) was diagnosed with breast cancer and is still undergoing treatment.
I am due to see my GP today following referral by the practice nurse after I discussed this with her during a routine blood test, and now I am very worried. I am 43, do I have a higher risk??
Please can anyone help?
