Hi, I am having a delayed breast reconstruction on 17th March and I would like some advice/tips please on what to do to prepare myself etc and what to take into hospital to wear post op. I had a mastectomy in Oct 2008 and am opting for a mastectomy on my other breast and double reconstruction with the TRAM flap. I have 4 young children so any advice and tips would be much appreciated. Thank you
Hi
I had delayed right breast Tram reconstruction on 14 Dec 2010. I got some button fron nighties from Primark and found them very useful and comfortable. I was in theatre gowns for the first few days. Then when up and about put on my own things. Take plenty reading material as it quite boring resting all the time. I was not allowed a shower for the duration of my stay in hospital just freshening up every day, which was not so good. The nurse helped me wash my hair on day 4 which was great. The pain was bearable I was only on strong medication for 2 days then went on to paracetomol and Ibuprofen. I was allowed a shower on day 10, when I was home and it was great. Every hospital has its own rules. I have recovered well boob looks great with no healing problems or infections.
Ask any questions you like.
Take care
