Again after 7 years, does this happen often ?

Diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2003, had mastectomy and chemo, 5 years of tamoxyfen and been on arimidex for 1 year. Just been diagnosed with cancer in the other breast. Waiting for date of op. HELP

I suspect from the replies you will probably get you will find it isn’t that uncommon to have breast cancer return after 7 years. You don’t say what type of bc you had - I wonder if it was lobular because this one has a tendency to spread to the other breast. I was first diagnosed in 1990 and had another tumour in 1996. In 1999 I had a lobular tumour in the other breast. It is a bummer isn’t it. I know I got to over 5 years and thought I was o.k. so it really came as quite a shock to find it was back. Wishing you all the best for the for the op when you get the date. I know I found the waiting around for things to happen was quite hard to take.
