Alico Reassure claim for DCIS

Hi everyone
Im wondering whether anyone has experience of claiming for DCIS under a well woman insurance policy which was originally held with Alico before being taken over by Reassure? I was successfully treated with surgery but was told that I am not eligible for a claim as it was ‘non-invasive’. I appreciate that I am very lucky in comparison with many of you lovely ladies but it seems unfair from an insurance policy point of view and I can’t find the original policy wording to challenge it. I would really appreciate any advice that you may have. Many thanks,

Please do have a look through the various boards and topics to find those going through similar experiences or for places you may be able to share your experiences and knowledge.

I was able to claim via Legal and General and was told verbally that the cancer had to be classed as invasive ( not to the body / lymph nodes but into other breast tissue) to count on my critical illness policy - so maybe that’s where DCIS falls outside of that range . If so it does seem a bit unfair if you are needing the same treatment . Did you have SNLB or radiotherapy - are you requiring hormone blockers because any of these might strengthen any case you have as would an Oncology referral . Keep every single appointment letter you have just in case . You could perhaps ask your BCN as I would imagine they are familiar with this issue .

It’s really annoying I know - I have another policy which costs an arm and a leg and I can only claim for that after a year of being off sick . It expires when I’m aged 60 so definitely going to stop paying it next year when I get to 59 .

Best of luck
Joanne
