Hello everyone. I’m in the waiting brigade - lump found 26th August - clinic appointment 21st September and I feel as if I’m moving through some kind of slow motion, trying not to panic but I can feel a scream in my solar plexus!! Have no one to confide in and I keep thinking I should have maybe have gone private if only to preserve my mental health. Have just come through a summer of being shielded - immunosuppressed already because of RA and I presume most treatments for any cancers has a similar impact on the immune system.
Im on my own so trying to be positive but also trying to have contingencies just in case. Does anybody know if you’re allowed to drive after chemo? I know there’s no diagnosis yet but i need to be sure I can arrange transport if required. I need to feel I can cope with stuff it’s not about being negative.
This is an amazing site and everyone has such courage. Thank you all for being there.
Hi Ails ,welcome to the forum .There is lots of support here -we will do our best to help you through - feel free to post about your worries /anxiety - that’s what the forum’s for .It makes sense to plan and think how you would cope if you do get a diagnosis if that helps you feel more in control.i haven’t been through chemo but maybe some ladies who have and live alone will be able to give some advice .Hopefully you will get positive news on the 21st but in the meantime please use the forum for support . Best wishes Jill x
it is really disconcerting when you first get on the breast “roundabout “. I have had 2 months of testing and lots of appointments. Waiting for information is challenging. My way of coping has been lots of meditation (had avoided this in the past !!!) and this has really really helped. Keeping me in the moment and not “catastrophising “(I am usually and expert in this ). I have been using the CALM app.
just taking the information in bite sized chunks has helped me remain sane. As a nurse of over 43 years experience I have a tendency to research everything… I learned this was not a good idea and have limited my research to Breast cancer Now (fab site) and my breast cancer nurse.
Moving onto my next stage tomorrow as having my operation but feel very ready for this and looking forward to recuperating.
Please use the forum and also sPeak to your GP or anyone else you find can give you positive vibes… reach out and you will be surprised how much care is out there. Thinking of you… Heather
When I had chemo I was able to drive afterwards without a problem. IThe first time I had someone pick me up just in case but after that I drove myself without a problem.
