Hi all!
I had my second masectomy left side, 5 weeks ago (risk reduction) after having a right sided masectomy in jan 2020 after breast cancer diagnosis.
I noticed yesterday afternoon when showering that I had a very angry rash on the top of my new reconstructed breast, I called my consultants secretary at the royal marsden and was asked to go straight in to be checked. My consultant thinks this is a result of an allergic reaction to the ADM (mesh) and that I should take antihistamines and go back to be reviewed on Wednesday. However, today the rash is much worse and has spread to the bottom of the breast and the antihistamine seem to have no effect.
My question is has anyone else has this problem? If so what was the outcome? Did you require more surgery (to remove/replace mesh)?
I also had ADM with my first masectomy in 2020 and had no problems at all but this was at a different hospital so possibly could of been a different type/brand.
thanks
xx
