New to the forum. My breast cancer began just over two years ago with primary. Unfortunately before my primary treatment had finished I learned a year ago that it had mets to the brain and liver.
i have just started a new line of treatment called Alpesilib (Piquray by Novartis). Its a drug that targets gene mutations in the PIK3R mutated breast cancer. ( my tumour samples were sent overseas) for testing.
Alpesilib only received EMA approval and license at the end of July and it was launched in September. So its very new and how troublesome side effects are to be determined. I’ll keep a weekly journey on this thread of how i fare on this .
Hi Pri, and welcome to the forum. I too, was diagnosed with lung mets before I’d finished radiotherapy so know what a body blow it must have been for you. I’ve never heard of the new line of treatment , but have heard of targeted therapy as a couple of ladies in my support group are on similar. Isn’t it clever that a drug knows where to go to give a particular metastasis a good talking to? Thank you so much for keeping us up to date with this new drug. You sound very much in control, but this forum is here to support you along the way. Laugh or cry, seethe or scream…we’ve seen it, done it and got the tee shirt. Best wishes with the treatment. I’m very interested in your story.
