Am I being paranoid or……

Hi all,

So after being a diagnosed with primary breast cancer a few months ago, my mind keeps going back to a mole/skin tag that I found on my inner thigh near my groin months and months ago and couldn’t remember if it had always been there at the time but then worried it hadn’t. I’m now paranoid it’s skin cancer so made the mistake of googling it and apparently there is a link! I’m now worried it’s a melanoma! It is redder then usual and had just been bleeding as I tried picking it (I have no idea why, I thought it was going to magically fall off!)

I have this worry too but haven’t built up the strength to bring it up with my oncology team.
Maybe you are braver than me and you can ask your team.
Best of luck

Hi butterflywishes40,

Thanks for posting about the mole on your thigh.

As the other posters have mentioned, after a breast cancer diagnosis, it is very common and understandable to worry about your health in general. You mention that you have asked a doctor to check the mole, which is great and hopefully they have been able to reassure you.

If you do notice any changes to the mole over time, such as a change in its size, shape, or texture, it’s important to get it checked again by a GP. Melanoma UK has some more information and resources on what to look out for.

If you haven’t done so already, you might like to check out some of our free supportive services, such as Someone Like Me which pairs you with a trained volunteer who has been through a similar experience to yours.
