Hi there my name is Julie,
I had a lump in my right breast in January 2012 which was dx as a cyst, which went away and now is back, In the past 3 months I have had a swollen lymph node in my left armpit which the dr said it was, they gave me antibiotics and took bloods and my blood was fine no infection there, I completed the antibiotics and the lump is still there, but what is very strange is that in the morning it shrinks a little bit and a couple of hours later it is back to its pea sized shape again, if this was due to breast cancer would the lymph node do that?
I also have found a similar lump on the top of my right breast, the dr felt that one again and said its probably a fatty cyst, but to still go to the breast clinic, the previous GP referred me to the breast clinic and I called them enquiring on my appointment and its not until September, I also have some itching on both breasts and upper back pain in the mornings.
Should I push for a quicker appointment or am I just being anxious?
thanks in advance xoxoxo

Hello the-itgirl,
You’re allowed to be anxious, you haven’t a clue what is happening to your body, and it is scary. You don’t say what date in September your appointment is. But, standard rules for England is for a referral appointment to be no longer a wait than two weeks, so if you can get it brought nearer I should give it a try. It might be that they are right about the lumps being fatty cysts, but GPs are just that, general practioners, and although they have a good grounding in all areas of healthcare, they aren’t really experts. Until you have been to the breast clinic, I’m sending big hugs and hoping for a good outcome for you. Take care.

Hi the-itgirl
As poemsgalore says, you’ve every right to be anxious. That doesn’t mean to say that we think there’s anything nasty going on but you know your own body and, if it doesn’t feel right, you’re entitled to be seen within the two week guidelines at the breast clinic.
I don’t know what’s causing the swollen lymph nodde but, as there’s no infection, I think it should be checked out. My GP (locum as it was an emergency appointment) said my lump was just a milk duct but he referred me to the breast clinic anyway. That lump turned out to be a benign cyst but, luckily, my consultant found a lump in my other breast which was cancerous.
Try to get an earlier appointment at the breast clinic if the appointment you already have is later than the first week of September and try not to worry in the meantime. Certainly don’t Google because there’s a lot of out-of-date and misleading information out there. Stick to this site and the MacMillan one.
Let us know how you get on.
(((hugs))) Maggie xx
hi julie
as the other ladies have said, i would try and get an earlier appointment if at all possible, but in the great scheme of things, the couple of weeks extra isnt that long for anything to change drastically (or thats what they told me anyway). i imagine that every pain you get will make you think its related, but either way, you want to be seen quickly so that you dont go mad with worry.
hope you get another appointment,
angie xx
Thank you everyone for your replies, I think I will call them tomorrow as I’ve not been feeling too great over the past 2 days headaches and the sweats are coming back again which they disappeared for a couple weeks.
I will let you all know how things go, thank you all for your support I think you all are amazing women
