Hello ladies,
I was switched to Anastrozole after developing intolerable s/e with Tamoxifen (taken for four months).
Now been on Anastrozole for three weeks and so far s/e have been minimal in comparison. Fingers crossed my body can live with Anastrozole for the next five years.
Waiting for a DEXA scan and have been prescribed Calceos (calcium/Vit D3 supplement). Picked up tablets today and read accompanying leaflet. ![]()
Didn’t expect to have to research which foods contain oxalic acid, phosphate or phytic acid. Also, to make sure I don’t take Calceos at the same time as meals containing these types of food. Says to take Calceos two hours before or after these types of food.
It would be good to hear from other ladies taking a Calcium/Vit D3 supplement.
Do you stick to the two hour recommendation?
Never thought I’d have to calculate the time when I could have a chocolate bar!!! No more spontaneous treats. Feeling miffed already being a chocoholic.
Trying to feel ‘normal’ again but finding it hard when taking all this new medication.
Apologies for moaning.
I know I should be grateful that Anastrozole is helping me survive and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Hi again Magical M we met on Vitamin D thread. I’m still on anastrazole and taking a proprietary Vitamin D tablet. All this avoiding foods is news to me! I did know oxalic acid can mess you about for absorbing Vitamin C but clearly now they have discovered other effects. I clearly need to research Phosphates and Phytic Acid. Meanwhile I would think that your GP might have some ideas about the risks of takiing Vit D3 and certain foods. If you could talk to a NHS dietitian perhaps that would also put things into perspective.
Hi
I have been on Anastrazole for 8 weeks following mastectomy in December. Had my DEXA scan waiting for results but also on the Calcium/VitD and unaware of these interactions, not going to start worrying about this until someone tells me differently, did not have this advice from Pharmacist. Chocolate comes from a bean and is therefore a vegetable and one of your five a day - thats the sort of advice I like !
Good luck with your journey - I am gong back to work next week, feel like I am 90 due to the s/e but if I dont go back now will be harder as apart from the obvious surgery etc have enjoyed my time at home
