Does anyone know if a bank can refuse to pay annual bonus if I was off sick for 9 months? I returned to work in September and had my annual review today my manager told me no bonus for me cos I wasnt at work! Sorry I got bloody cancer! Don’t know how I stand with this as o do understand I haven’t contributed to work in that 9 months but I’ve been there 19 years!!! I’m so bloody annoyed!! Can anyone help please?
I don’t work for a bank, but it is a FTSE 100 company. It’s written into my terms that for any sick leave of over a month in total per bonus year, bonus will be reduced. So for example if I had one month off sick, I’d still be eligible for the full bonus. If I had 3 months off sick, I’d only be eligible for 75% of my bonus.
Check your terms, or HR intranet if you have one. I expect it’s buried in the small print, but it is standard practice I’m afraid.
