You having to go and buy loads of food for us, sounds even more work for you (though lovely for the rest of us!). So my option would be for us to each bring something to share - I love tasting other people’s dishes! Probably best if we posted here what we were bringing to check that it was roughly balanced in terms of puddings, salads etc. Not sure how easy that would be for you on the plane, Tracy, but you could always just bring something more easily transportable like a bag of rolls.
I think it’s gone quiet as it’s the weekend and holiday season plus there seem to be quite a few women who are not that well at present.
Tracy - hope you can get a cheaper flight. If you can arrange coming over, I’ll give you my contact details so that we know how to arrange meeting up.
Hope everyone is OK - we’re having a family day in and been playing card games etc and doing the photo albums. Just found a newt in our pond so daughter really excited!!!

Was just a bit worried that not many people had responded since we settled on the date and venue but you are probably right, Kate, and people (hopefully) are out enjoying the long weekend. I’ve had a quiet “pottering” sort of a day - hubby and son got tickets to Wembley to see Leeds. They won’t be happy when they return as Leeds have just lost to Doncaster so won’t be promoted!
Only toads (and fish) in our pond, Kate - I would get really excited if we had a newt too!

I’m going on holiday early the next morning, so i think it’s unlikely I’ll be able to come, but I’ll keep my options open and if I can’t resist, will still come at the last minute! I know in theory I should be able to get all packed and ready in advance, but i know in practice it’ll all be too much at the last minute. Hey ho, there’s always next time…

That’s great - all systems go for 19th! I will arrange to continue on to see my son and the grandchildren and make a weekend of it and I will whisper Dawn to get directions. I think the ‘bring a plate’ is a good idea - put me down for a fruit salad (obviously in a bowl and not a plate…!) I think we should all turn up with our own plate/glass/knife/fork etc and then we can take it away with us and wash it up. I can bring some for Tracy too to save her carrying it on the plane.
OOOH can’t come. Have booked with Ryanair to go to France with my mum that day for four days. Has anybody else checked out their sale? Managed to get two return tickets to La Rochelle for a long weekend (Thursday to Monday) for a grand total of forty quid!
Well that’s a thought for a future meeting - who says we should only meet in Britain? Perhaps we should get this meeting off the ground before we plan foreign trips.
Such a shame you can’t come, Deidre, but a long weekend in La Rochelle sounds lovely (quite fancy a meet out there too if we can get trips - have also thought about the Channel Islands to save Tracy her journey!!).
Jacquie - just get that packing done early, girl!! Seriously do know what it is like the day before going on holiday (particularly with children) but would love to see you. Otherwise will have to set a “liver birds” meet again fairly soon - or perhaps we should do that anyway!
I was so keen to go to the South Bank meeting but had chest infection. Would love to try to get to this and it will be during my week off chemo which is good but could you let me know exactly where it is as with London I was planning to go by train from South Wales - is there a nearby station - not sure about contemplating driving there and back in one day. Also as you may have read on other posts things are rather difficult at home as my husband is having nervous collapse and is staying at his mum’s leaving me to cope alone so it will also depend on how I’m feeling but I would really like to meet up with you ladies some time. Please keep me up to date with the info and I’ll mull it over and say a definite one way or the other nearer the time if that’s ok.
It would be so lovely to see you but your journey looks horrendous! I looked up Swansea (not sure where in S Wales you would be starting) to East Grinstead and it would involve nearly 5 hour long journey (each way) and crossing London by underground. I was hoping that I could pick you up somewhere at a station to make things easier but there is nothing I can do to help as I am coming from the east and you are approaching from the west. I am sure there will be other Cinderella days and, in your case, it would probably be easier to meet abroad than tackle this!
i dont think i will be aable to make it this time , the flights are now 120 (just waiting on scan results before i was going to book ) seema alot for 1 day ? i may look at thompsn fly nut they fly to the northeren area xxx
Tracy - sorry that you can’t come. I was looking forward to meeting you but it is so expensive your flights. I suppose it doesn’t help that it is now holiday season so prices go up. If you do find a cheaper flight to Gatwick I can still pick you up there. I hope things pick up for you.
