Wow what a coincidence ! X
Hi Yes and although E who gave the massage is clear of cancer some 19 yrs later (about that length) another who had it at the same time has got a tumour on her lung now. I am concerned about having radiotherapy
Well it isnāt something to be undertaken lightly . You do need to get a medical professional to go through it all with you . I also donāt see why you couldnāt ask about recent changes in their treatment protocols which Iām sure must have have been updated over the years.
If the language is proving to be a communication barrier can you take someone who can translate ? Xx
I just saw your other post but the Nurses have now closed that one . You said 46g - I assume thatās 46gy the dosage you are being offered in France ?
If so and even though itās over 5 weeks itās very similar to the 40gy total dose some areas are still routinely doing here over 3 weeks if that helps any. I realise you have a language barrier to I overcome but it is really important that you get an understanding of it.
Mine was right sided but I was sent a video to show how to do the breathing which I thought might be a mistake but I practiced it anyway just in case - actually had just about got the hang of it so itās not impossible . There are videos on YouTube as well that you might find helpful . I do think you need to discuss it more thoroughly though and try to get them to go through the risk / benefit ratio because it is your choice at the end of the day . Xx
Hello
This is very very helpful -all I get is -you should have it - absolutely no discussion - no access to anyone I can ask until.the meeting on.Sept 4th and Im.afraid hes just going to say when its likely to start. Absolutely nobody to go through the risks advantages,of having it or not. Yes it must be gy - and in the UK its 40 ? And sometimes for three weeks? Im just told five weeks must be better than one - or three. I have no idea if 46 is a tiny bit more than 40 or just a little ? So Im really glad to read your post. Im supposed to wait a month not knowing what the heck is going on. Ive made an appointment to see the Dr next week but hes got Parkinsons and Im not sure he can explain anything to me. His wife is supporting him. Its the deep countryside and there seems to be difficulty finding doctors. I dont know who to turn to - I think are there books I can read ? Thanks
In the UK we have a planning appointment before we start treatment and at that time we get more information and consent and are then measured to line up with the machines etc. This would be the time to research and decide what questions you want to ask . Write them down and take them with you to that if itās the same there.
Search for Dr. Liz OāRiordan radiotherapy on YouTube she is a Doctor who has had breast cancer herself and has a series of videos called ticking off breast cancer . I also watched a video I think from Oxford University Hospital but that was more about what to expect when you go for treatment. Xx
Thanks this is really helpful. I have had three weeks and two weeks to go. Here in France it is 2g a day ? 25 times?
