Hi,
I start my 1st of 6 x FEC on 3rd June and have been asked to join a trial for nausea during chemo. Apparently (don’t have all the info yet) but you may wear (some do and some don’t ) one of those bands which are used for travel sickness or sea sickness…you are chosen at random as to whether you will be one who wears a band or one who doesn’t. The theory behind it is to find out whether the band helps with nausea or sickness during chemo…anyone else doing similar?

Hi Suze,
No! Not that brave!! do you still get the anti sickness tablets?..just in case! or do you suffer? l have heard about them and from what l understand they have a small button in the band that presses on an acupressure point in your wrist, If they are the same as l looked at a very long time ago!
l do suffer from travel sickness, what put me off was they ‘can’ also cause severe headache’s. And as l used to get migraine, decided against them, seems to me l would have been going from one ‘pain’ to another!
Good Luck and Hugs

I do suffer from travel sickness if I sit in the back. I’m thinking about the band. might try it next time if I suffer after the first one.

Hi SuXe,
I went out before my first chemo and bought a bag of goodies that I was told would help me through chemo. That included the anti-sickness wrist bands. They fit quite tightly and the button does press into your flesh. I found after several days of wearing them that they were a little uncomfortable and I couldn’t wait to take them off. I think I wore them for about 3 days for each of my 3 FEC and I didn’t get any headaches but whether they helped my nausea or not I can’t be sure. I had nausea for about 4 days but could usually eat small bland meals through it.
As Sandra says I hope you still get your anti-sickness meds too!!! Mind you everyone is different, some ladies have no nausea and some the opposite.
Good luck anyway, you will be fine and chemo flies by, you will be amazed at how quick it will be.
Love

Hiya - I’ve just finished chemo, i wore the band for about a week each cycle and convinced it helped a great deal. Anytime i took it off eg shower and forgot to put it back the nausea would return. i would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
This wasn’t part of any trial - just wanted to try it after reading about it. The bands that you can buy from Amazon are the British version - you need 2 of them to be effective - and yes they are very tight, however i sent for the American version - you only need 1, and much more comfortable. Hope it helps

Hi,
I SWORE by them when I had chemo in 2007. It wasn’t part of a trial but just before I was diagnosed I’d read about Christies trialling them and so thought why not give them a go - anything’s worth a go not to feel sick. I wore them all the time from July to Dec, through 8 lots of chemo, slightly different to the one you’re on, and high doses of the stuff. Took the anti-sickness they gave me at the hospital and never once felt sick. I can get travel sick - can’t read in a car and a boat is horrendous for me - I feel seasick on a pedalo !!!
I did wonder if it meant the chemo wasn’t working cos I wasn’t sick but soon put that idea out of the window when my hair fell out after 2 weeks !!!
Good luck for the chemo.

Hi everyone - didn’t use them durig chemo, was lucky that I never felt sick (6xEC) but I swear by them for travel sickness. Think they are probably worth a go. Marli X
