Any " must have" recommendations?

Hi all! My sister is starting chemo in the next couple of weeks in Portugal. I’m going over to spend a few days with her for moral support and distraction and would like to take her a little -or not so little- package of things that others have found essential to them during chemo. I’m thinking lotions and potions but really any suggestions from you guys would be much appreciated by both of us-any thing that became your own personal “must have” to ease the way on your challenging journey. Thank you. Dx

My sister made me a wonderful chemo box full of things to help me through. There were practical things like ant bac gel and antiseptic wipes. Lip salve , mints and sweets for the horrible taste, a soft toothbrush and gentle toothpaste, plus some treats like a box set, DVDs, CDs and a notebook to write everything down. It was so thoughtful of her and made me cry. I am about to have cycle two and the box has come in very handy. Hope this helps. Claire xxx

Debbie, there’s a company called ‘not another bunch of flowers’ that has wonderful gifts and ideas for friends and relatives going through chemo. Google them and take a look
My advice to your sister is drink 2L of water the day before, day of and day after chemo and as much as possible al through treatment.
Wishing her (and you) all the very best xxx

Hi Debbie Highly recommend Not another bunch of flowers. Was sent a gift package from work. They have lovely soft cotton beanies you can wear outside. I found the chillo pillow was perfect when having hot flushes. I was also given gin-gins which are ginger boiled sweets. Really helped with the nausea. Hope your sister manages ok.
