Hi Shelley,

I did have AC a year ago (was meant to have 4 but only had 3 as it didn’t shrink the tumour much) nausea and fatique are all normal side effects so don’t worry. I was given a pile of anti-nausea tablets which I had to take for a few days afterwards - I got sick of the sight of tablets!! After I stopped AC I had Taxotere, which was pretty hard going, but I did the trick and I came out the other side with flying colours.

All the ladies on this site are so helpful and caring, I don’t know what I would have done without them to fire questions at and have a darn good moan!!!

Good luck with the rest of your treatment,

Tracy xx

Hi Shell
Yes I have had ac over last couple of months. Had 3 lots out of 4 but as it hadnt shrunk my bc. the onc decided to put me onto taxotere instead. I have had 1 out of 4 tax so far.
For the !st 9 days or so on ac I felt lethargic and had a horrible taste in my mouth that made it difficult for me to eat or even drink. I spent a lot of time in bed. After that I began to pick up and by week 3 made up for my initial lack of appetite. Hair fell out just b4 second chemo but I had a wig by then. We will get over all of this in the end but patience isnt my stong point!!!

best wishes with s/e’s.

Hi to all you babes , it is now over 2 years since i had 5 dozes of ac and then 4 of tax ,but i do remember the feeling of sickness and tiredness . I do no that i started having ginger biscuits and fresh pineapple seemed to help alot . Another thing the pinapple helped with is the sore mouth that you can sometimes get .
Take care huns i am now 38 and never thought i would ever feel good again but believe me you do

Hi Shelly,

I’ve recently finished 4 of AC and now 3 of 4 Tax done. First AC not too bad, bit nauseous, but after the second one I spent 4 days vomitting and absolutely shattered. Until they got my anti-nausea tablets sorted for the 3rd AC I didn’t think that I could go on anymore. I was given Domperidone to take, and Kytril for anti nausea at first and then they gave me Dexmethazone…Treatment 3 no nausea - heaven. Had to put all scented products away until a week after chemo as smells would just make me nauseous.

Lots of food & drink tasted awful for days afterwards too. Once the appetite came back I was ravenous , and haven’t stopped eating since.

Suffered badly with constipation - nothing the hospital gave me worked - but the best thing was from Holland & Barrett - Onastron (something like that)…a cube that you cut up and eat a quarter each night - made with figs or such.

Chronic heartburn and Lansoprazole capsules didn’t work so they swapped me to the same in tablet form which worked slightly better - didn’t cure it though.

I know how you feel - but ther is light at the end of the tunnel…it just a long tunnel when you feel so awful. Good luck xx

Thanks Chris.

take care.

HI I have just started TAC so getting it all!!! I have not been too bad although at times feel very tired, tummy upset after about 12 hours after eating, just beginning to get a metallic taste in my mouth but no nausea or vomiting. I am realistic to know that each day will be different as well as each cycle - 1st was on 3.10.08

Hope everyone is not doing badly and enjoying the sunshine love sharon xx
