Any suggestions for treat/reward after each chemo

Hi all,

I have seen that several of you have treats or rewards for themselves after each treatment to have something to be looking forward to.

I find the chemo treatment really hard, I have 7 more sessions and I am not sure how I will get through this. Since I have been diagnosed, I don’t want to do anything so it is a bit hard to find anything I would want to do, you might be able to give me some inspiration.

Many thanks,

Hi Phinou

Not knowing your personal situation I can only suggest things that would cover most. I hadn’t personally decided on planning treats but situations have popped up that I have made into treats. One day ast week I was feeling great, sick of my four walls, my husband was home so I suggested we drive up to the  Blue Mountains and visit one if my clients of 25 years, who recently went into assisted care. Shes missing her  home and friends. I missed  her last appointment due to having my 1st chemo. I realised I had a voucher for a 75 min spa facial and massage from last April. I am booked in for tomorrow as I know  usually I am ok after day 5 I I have 2 good weeks left. If you can plan a treat that no one  will be inconvenienced by if you dont feel up to utto it, all the better. Say a movie you’d ike to see. A drive to somewhere you’ve never visited  but wanted to, or to some favourite place. Go on a picnic. Or if you can gauge when you know you come good between cycles book a relaxing massage or facial. If you have children at home ask for a pamper day. If you are on your own invirre friends over for avgirks night in with videos and provide the guests with aprons abd ingredients abdcsee what they can cook between them. All you’d have to do is direct them to where everything is. Your mind is your biggest enemy. If you can start to look at the positives, and they are there, and look at what there is to be grateful about, and do that every morning and evening when you’re in bed you could rise above how you are feeling. When you feel more positive and apply it to your treatment it will be much easier to cope with. In the end, its  up to us to not let Cancer rule our life. We have to claim it back. Good luck and I hope your future treatments aren’t too hard on you.

Sorry to hear your having a hard time with the treatment but completely understand. Even a little treat such as a not often eaten but favourite dessert if you are able to. Maybe using that special bath oil and having a soak in the bath. Little steps. Little treats. Maybe your oncologist can help with the side effects and vary the mixture to help you. If you do give yourself a treat let us know. Xx
