Phew! The circus was looking like a serious option! Husband’s razor it is then after a bath tomorrow morning. Honestly I don’t think I have ever examined myself so minutely in my life! The great comfort about all this is that no one else seems to notice the absence of eyebrows, eyelashes and nails. May be they would fail to notice a beard as well?

Along with the fuzz on my head, (some of which is about 1cm and some about an inch), I have a bit of baby fuzz on my face which looks a bit long in places! I’ll see how it goes before I resort to the razor! I’ll have to get my head hair evened up though and don’t particularly want to clipper it. Maybe I’ll got to a hairdresser! That will be a novel experience after so long.
Also got the lovely one wiry hair in chin back which I have not missed for the past 6 months!

Yes I have the wiry damn chin hair back and the shades of a moustache! Ain’t life wonderful? But even my husband said he could see some groath on my head this evening which is a first!

Hi everyone,
I’ve read somewhere on here that herceptin can slow the rate of hair growth. Don’t know if it’s true, but my hair is growing very slowly. Last tax was Sept 14, but I’ve still got less than 1/2 inch hair. I’m so desperate to go without a scarf again, but won’t until it gets long enough to look like I may have had it cut that short.

Hiya all
My hair isn’t growing as quickly as I would like. I had my last taxotere on 7th November and it had started growing previous to that but very very slowly. It has speeded up and I have got quite a lot of hair around the sides and back but still have got a big bald patch (with a fine fuzz) on my head - my hubby likens it to looking like Willy Thorne! Has anyone else got such uneven hair growth, I just want it to grow. We are going to Center Parks at the beginning of Feb and I was sure it would be all back by then but now I’m thinking I’m still going to be bald!
On another note my bikini line is growing back thick and dark as ever - that is just typical!!!

If it is any comfort you are doing better than me. Your last tax was a week after mine, and nothing was growing then. Still look like a baby bird myself. Nearly scalped my two year old granddaughter yesterday. If yours is doing that well then may be you will be ok for Centre Patrks in February. I’d hoped for hair for Xmas myself. Now I am beginning to wonder about my birthday in February!
Interestingly bikini line is staying neat! Facial hair is another matter entirely! And legs! Chemo has a great sense of humour, doesn’t it?

Yes hair does seem to have a sense of humour. All these months of not being able to go swimming because of my hickman line and being bald but having the best bikini line ever. Now, finally might be able to go swimming but have got a horrible hairy bikini line!!! I thought I would be able to reveal my hair at xmas but it is taking much longer than I thought, oh well fingers crossed for feb.

Im hoping for hair by end of Feb - last chemo was 28th Nov so im not holiding my breath!

Can I ask you ladies how much hair you actually lost? I am about to have FEC 5 and whilst my underarm and nostril hair has gone completely, I have a fine fuzz on my head that has never completely gone, as well as a small amount of pubic hair, my arm hair looks no different, and my leg hair still grows back after shaving.
Maybe I should be grateful but I’m worried that the dose isn’t enough or am I resistant to it?!!
Just wondered what the experience of others was.

I had three FEC and three taxotere and I lost the lot, everywhere! Head hair first between first and second FEC and the rest a few weeks later. You are doing well! I don’t think they would give you an inadequate dose. We all react differently.

Hi everyone,
I’m glad it’s not just me obsessed with my fuzz! I’m on epi-xeloda and currently half-way through the xeloda bit. Epi made pretty much all hair fall out but now have about 2 or 3mm of fuzz all over my head. Dark brown too like before - I was worried I might suddenly be all grey at the grand age of 36! I’ve starting shampooing, more because it makes me feel better than anything else but my scalp is so dry, like my skin elsewhere - must be the tablets. I’m prone to dry skin normally but not usually this bad. I did buy myself a Babyliss Beliss styler for Xmas (a bit like a hairdryer) but being a bit optimistic there, it’ll be a while before I can use that.

Dilys and Nicola - Thanks for your responses. Forgot to mention that I’ve still got eyebrows too although my eye lashes are looking very sad. I saw the onc today and asked about this. She said I must just have resistant hair, and not to worry as I’m getting plenty of chemo! Dilys is right - we all react differently.

Thanks Dilys - pity I didn’t know about the resistant hair before I shaved it off! But it was falling out so maybe head hair not so resistant!!
Glad to hear your eyebrows are re-appearing - I’m sure your head hair won’t be far behind! Can’t wait to get mine back - only one FEC left - so hope to have some growth by March…
