Any tips for quicker hair growth?

I know I know - I guess alot of you have thought about this too!!

Seriously, does anyone know of anything that may help in hair growth?

Last chemo was on 28th Nov and Im desperate to ditch my hats!

Any tips or advice would be great.

Hi Lynne my love

Wish I knew! Finished chemo at the end of October but so far just a very very very light fuzz. Legs seem to be cooperating though. Damn. If anyone has any good ideas I would love to hear them! I am going to deck the next person to tell me that it will all grow back! She said in seasonal fashion…

Happy Christmas Lynne

Hi Lynne & Dilys

I’ve heard that shampoos and conditioners with rosemary oil in spurt hair growth but have no experience of whether they do or not. I finished E-CMF chemo last week and resemble a baby owl at the moment! My friend finished chemo in September and already has a full head of hair and it’s so thick. She said it is in the last 6 weeks that it has just spurted. I suppose it’s all relevant to the hair follicle cycle really , which I don’t understand.

I’ve invested in some stuff that you rub into your head after shampoos developed by an Oncologist in America. It cost me about £25 for a bottle but I think it will last a long time. It smells absolutely vile (like 10 day old stewed cabbage) and is full of vitamins etc. Not sure whether it is working as yet but at least I feel I am doing something to help. It is called ‘ChemoRx’ and it comes from America and I recieved it within 10 days of ordering. (post edited)

Hope this is useful.

Hi Sam

Please accept my apologies. I am very sorry. Feel very naughty now  But, yes I completely understand.

Carly

Hi Carly

Hi Dilys
Guilty as charged! I blame it on chemo brain!!

I had a lovely day yesterday, thank you. Hope you did too. Feel a bit poorly today though, my chest feels very tight. My chemo doesn’t officially end until 2 Jan so just hope my white blood cells will kick in! Need to be well for New Year celebrations!

Love Carly x

HI Carly/Dylis,

Hoping you had a wonderful Xmas.

I think I will try anything for a bit of hair growth!!!

Thanks once again.

Im going for the ‘dragged through hedge backwards’ look…and its very fetching. Just wish it would grow ‘down’ instead of up if that makes sense lol. Never been a girlie girl and never faffed about with hair products before…now my morning revolves round mousse and gel! Dagnammit these over zealous cells have turned me into a proper girl lol!
I finished my e-cmf in july…and its now december and ive got about 3 nd half inches of hair on my noggin…and its now going curly at the back. Its coming back thick and fast…just hope it doesnt go all ringletty!

Hi Carly, Lynne and Buttons

Oh lord - a six month wait? When could you first go out “uncovered” as it were, Buttons? I would love curly! My light fuzz seems to be growing straight up as well. Odd isn’t it?

Much love

I erm kind of kept forgetting my ‘hair’ and putting my cap on…so in the end didnt bother…but as soon as i had fuzz i went out as erm bald as brass, sorry should be bold as brass. I liked playing with my fuzz…just felt nice…and feeling the wind ruffle it for the first time in months was the weirdest feeling in the world…so didnt care if people stared or anything I just wanted to feel the wind ruffle it again.

Hi Buttons

Thanks. I just can’t wait. I love feeling my fuzz though - it is a bit like thin velour at the moment. Wait till I can hit the shampoo section again. And buy a new hair dryer! Mind you, it saves ages in the mornings…

Cheers

Dilys

Hi Ladies,

Buttons - I know what you mean, Im hardly the girlie girl type, however mine was always spiky/messy but I loved my hair. Loved applying the wax etc everytime I went somewhere. However, Im gonna say the same as Dylis - a six month wait! I dont think I could wait that long, but then again I havent got much choice.

when it was falling out I shaved it on a number 2 and some of that has stayed but my OH says she can see it growing amongst my old stuff. The big question at the minute though is…do i shave it all off to see if it grows back any quicker…i.e rejuvinate the hair folicals etc etc.

I keep washing mine with E45 shampoo, thinking the more I wash the more the foliclies will stimulate?

Hoping your all ok today

Lynne

Hi Lynne

Would shaving it off again help? I don’t think I could bear it. Unless it is guaranteed to help it grow quicker. Wonder if someone out there has the answer? As you say, no choice but to wait really!

Much love

Hi Dylis,

Im not sure, I came to the conclusion that if it works when you go to the hairdressers, it must work if its growing back…however i dont think i could bear it too. Im happy looking at a little bit of hair at the moment all be it with a few bald patches rather than none at all.

I would be interested too to hear if anyone has shaved it as its growing back?

Hi Lynne

No takers for us then yet! Think I am hanging on to my wisps! Nice to be at the “hopeful” stage finally, eh?

Love to you and partner

I used a minoxidil treatment, and it did seem to help with regrowth. It is not cheap. It is a product that you massage into the scalp daily. Ask your hairdresser for advice.

Dear Lynne and all

Just had a fright. Peering at my head in the mirror I realised that my face has the same fine fuzz as my head. AARGH! Am I going to be the bearded lady? Anyone else had this? Oh my god! Help!!!

Much love and sleep tight.

Hi Dilys,

Just to let you know I have read about this, it does seem quite common, but from what I can gather, a gentle removal is all thats needed, some ladies mentioned waxing, but don’t know how practical that is! Or using a hair removal cream… from reading their threads it seems that once removed, it doesn’t bother coming back, which is good news!!!
Unless you fancy running off with the circus of course!!! :o)

Take care,
Shannon

I had that…like really fine baby fuzz all over your face. I didnt notice it til I slapped a face on one day and then thought OMG im furry! Not having that! So got hubbys razor…changed the blade lol…and dry shaved it off…it hasnt bothered to come back since…but had horrible visions of having to shave my face every day…how the bloomin heck would i explain that one to the kids!
